Toast Is A Total Waste Of Your Money!

Hello, I agree with everything on this thread.. 1. Help is available on this site! tsantee is fantastic, always responding with good information. Thank you very much! 2. Roxio tech support is worse than useless because it takes so much time and nothing is resolved. 3. Roxio has been sold off and kicked around, each time getting less and less corporate support. I agree that it probably won't be around much longer. More comments: I have used Creator 2011 with much success. Some issues came up and I was on this forum with some PC guys, about 5 of them. All excellent! I expected similar product and forum support on the Toast side and was terribly disappointed. The product is just not-ready-4-primetime!!! Again, tsantee is every bit as savvy and supportive as the guys on the PC side and I commend him. Thanks again, tsantee... I like your Austin 3000!

    Web Video Capturing Issues

I've now attempted to capture a song from Youtube. Toast did it, but it was just an opening video file, not one I want to keep. It was hard to get it away, but I did it. Then, I wanted to capture one to keep. NO luck. Just no show in Titanium WebVideo. It does capture in FireFox though.

Hi. Thanks for the good tutorial. I have copied 11.0.4. Now I am looking for the 'updater'. Can't find it. I've done this when Toast has prompted me to get an update, but there is none now This webpage: //www.roxio.com/enu/support/toast/software_updatesv11.html suggests updating to 11.0.4. This page says to select 'About' from the 'Toast Titanium' menu. Well, 'About Toast Titanium' is not clickable. The iMac OSX Lion does a search for updates, but doesn't find one for Toast. Help search has no results for updater.

Thanks, ts. I'll review these when I'm back at my iMac. I am just dumb not to know that a few letters on a solid color area of the toast window is actually a 'button'. Also, I'm not exactly sure how to have 2 versions of Toast to use. ?Copy 11.0.4? How do I switch back and forth? Maybe I'm just too green with this Apple world. Maybe I should have just stuck with PC. :-(

Roxio sent me a mail suggesting I remove all Flash files and re-download up-to-date Flash. I did that.. No change. I wrote to them. No answer. I'm trying now. No capture.

I can follow the directions you give above. After it captured, I dragged it to the big Toast window (with a file name of about 30 digits). I highlighted it and renamed it to the song title. The only choice for conversion is mp4, Best. I clicked on the red 'convert' button. It allowed me to direct where to save it. After it converted, I tried to play it. Some times, it would play. Many times, it came up in VLC's play list with a 0:00 duration and of course would not play. In Finder, the Get Info showed file size of 3-5 megs. I don't remember the exact actions, but some caused a xxx.toast icon to show up on the desktop. There is still one there. I just clicked on it and it launches VLC with a title screen, but won't play. Sometimes, I can capture many of the choices I click on in Youtube, but sometimes, NOTHING will capture. I was able to capture some of them in Foxfire the other day, but Toast does't like to convert them. WHAT CAN I DO WITH A xxx.TOAST FILE? The last Roxio agent I talked to suggested updating to 11.0.6. I didn't Are you still confident in 11.0.4?

    Web Video Capturing Issues

I have been trying since the last post to capture video. Toast won't capture anything! The Firefox extension says it captures, but VLC only shows the file name with 0.00 in data in the file. Quick time won't play it. Handbrake doesn't do it.

    Web Video Capturing Issues

Hello elquetzal, Thank you for your interest. I have read the tutorials that came in Toast Titanium. There are nine of them. None address capturing material from the net. There is one that was referred to me form the support area for Corel. The one for capturing works some times. Many times, it just doesn't show in the pane. My biggest problem now is that after capturing a file, I can't convert it to a standard mp4 for archiving and playing in VLC. It captures in a file name of about 20 numeric characters. I have seen about 3 different places go give the file a different name. It seems that on subsequent file processes, Toast insists on naming the next one the same as the preceding one. Then, the 'Mount' thing puts 2 icons on the desktop. I guess if I were to save converted files to somewhere other than the desktop, there may be less confusion. This is still a nightmare!

    Web Video Capturing Issues

I've continued to work with Toast 11.0.4 and was able to capture many files... But then the trouble starts.. I can't save the file in a form that VLC can play. It puts multiple icons on the desktop, then the file name is randomly changed or reverted to the last download filename. I tried to do the Firefox downloader.. That wants an FFMpeg, but it takes me through a rat's nest maze of stuff and still won't download anything. So frustrating!

I tried another download... It just stopped.. It won't recognize any streamed video. This thing is just so non-predictable. Unfortunately, I've not found any other process that is dependable either.

Hi, I found a nice 1080p file of the space shuttle launch. Am conveying it now, but it will only convert to 360x2xx ... how about capturing it and converting in the original resolution?

    Disc Copy

Thanks,, I'm trying it now. Recovery is going to take all night.. If this works, I'm getting closer to trusting Toast. I would love to copy just specific songs from a disc. That would be great. An option is to use Elgato capture device and do each video clip in real time. I'll keep working.. Bill

    Disc Copy

Thanks, I did just those things today. The Copy to hdd in Toast saved as an mp4 file, not .toast. I have done a .toast (don't know how I did it) and it wouldn't play. The mp4 files displayed in a seriously narrow (unusable) format. I'll try to manage a .toast file. I also copied the VIDEO_TS folder on the desktop. VLC doesn't play it dependably. I saved out specific Vxxxx.xx.VOB files and VLC only plays the first 30 seconds or so. I didn't try DVD Player because it kills the desktop when it is in full screen. I'll work on it some more tomorrow... trying to use a .toast file. I'm kinda skittish about that from my experience with .iso files in Creator. Thanks again. Bill PS.. I had to arrange a 39 character user name and a 16 character password to get in here... Bummer!!

    Disc Copy

Since Toast won't archive my free to air recorded dads to hdd, I'm trying Handbrake. It sorta works.. It always gives me a warning about 32bit vs 64bit. I'll try to post a shot of it.

    Disc Copy

I've been looking at Toast's tutorials... SORELY LACKING compared to what was in Creator 11. I've been poking around and copying NON-PROTECTED programming to the hdd/desktop from a dvd. I tried to play as if a disc is inserted.. It shows the window in some very wide format, like 16x4 or something. I sure would like to copy my materials on dvd to the archive hdd on here. It seems so close, but not here yet. Maybe Handbrake,, but then again, Toast should do it. Thanks for any suggestions. Bill
