  1. No audio received by Roxio. Tried two different VCRs. Video is fine. Using the Yellow/White/Red cables. Checked connections. Cables work fine on other equipment. Tried both "Composite" and "S-Video" for input source. Any suggestions? thx
  2. My Toast, as it concerns the OWC External Firewire DVD burner ( OWCMRF82SD24S) is really driving me nuts. While the OSX 10.8 recognizes the drive, mounts the DVD on the desktop, Toast will not recognize the device as an option to burn a DVD more times NOT than WILL. Reboots, resetting PRAM, SMC...nothing really helps. There are times it will recognize the DVD with the SAME devices attached in the SAME chain order and then it will not appear in TOAST, but will it the Apple system. I have rearranged the FW device within the chain, I have tried the burner by itself and the hit and miss continues. Often, after recognizing the drive and doing a DVD burn, it will not recognize the device for the next burn. I also tested the same device using the USB interface and same issue. I am wondering if anyone else is having issues with FW burners and if you have found any resolution.
  3. I am new to RoxioCDandDVDCreator. I am trying to import MP$ video from a memory card to the program. I go to FILE>capture/import...go to options and I get a TV STANDARD as the only option. I can select my memory card from videos...brouse but do NOT get a selection of videos in MP4 format. I can only get to the folder they are in. I am thinking I need to get to options other than TV STANDARD. Any ideas for a beginner? I am trying to record video with a digital camera of church services in an MP4 format and convertt then to a DVD format o be played o the local Public Access Station. I want to use Roxo CDandDVDCreator to do so. Thanks in advance! Dennis

    Dvd's No Longer Playing

Ever since I updated the Toast software to the latest version, the DVD's I burn no longer play in my dvd player. The dvd player doesn't recognize the dvds as "playable" at all. None of the settings that I've used in the past have changed, and I've been using the software without any kind of problem for over a year. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Dvd Will Not Play In All Player

I converted a video to dvd.I tried it on my tv dvd player,an old dvd player I have had for years,a little portable dvd player,I tried it on my brothers game player(i think it is an x box).It worked on all of these. It would not work on the dvd player at our clubhouse.I went to best buy and made the see if the dvd would play on a new dvd player and it would not. What am I doing wrong?
  6. Hi there When I capture from my VHS machine (VCR) - with my settings on PAL - B (or any PAL mode), the picture being captured "jumps" and gets "stuck" a bit every few seconds, like a delay of sorts. At first I thought it may be the video machine, however if I change the settings to NTSC, the picture no longer jumps, and is extremely clear. The problem with using NTSC though, is that it then makes the picture black and white? PAL then returns it to color, but then i have the "jumping" problem. What could cause this? How can I stop my picture / video from jumping? thank you

Burning Dvd In Toast 9, Video Is Grainy-Help

I am using toast 9.0.7 on an IMac, running OS 10.8.4 I recently edited a few movies recorded using mini dv tapes & Sony VX2000 & PD170 camcorders. Footage looks great on my monitor, but upon burning a dvd, the playback is grainy, like watching an old VHS tape on LP. Length of dvds is between 90 & 105 minutes. whether I playback the dvds on a HD Plasma tv using a blueray player or an old tube tv in 4:3 and a decent quality regular dvd player, The picture looks grainy. In my Toast settings I use best quality, etc. Am I doing something wrong? I'm thinking of upgrading to Taost 11 or 11 pro, but first I have to get around this issue. Also can you burn a blue ray dvd even though you didn't shoot HD footage? Thank in advance fo rall replies.

    Dvd And .mov Won't Play

I'm trying to burn an imovie on a DVD-R and DVD+R (because I cant get either one to work) that will play on my home dvd player. Is it the format that I am burning it in? Is there a way that I can re-format the .mov so that it will play on a dvd player?
  9. Hey all, I am trying to make a simple Audio DVD. I put in all of my audio, and I used a custom setting to max out the bit rate. I have tried both using and not using the dynamic range compression. But no matter what I do the Audio stream ends up with a buzzing noise that accompanies the Audio (it's spoken word audio). My copies are fine, I have tried different audio's to see if that would change things, but nothing. Help me please, I would really appreciate any help on this. Thanks, John
  10. I am trying to burn an ISO image to a DVD using Roxio Creator NXT. The video of the image burns perfectly fine, but the audio gets interrupted every 60 seconds or so. It just stops for a second or two and then picks up where it left off. When I play the video through the computer, there are no issues. This only happens when played through a DVD player connected to the TV. Any help is GREATLY appreciated as I am slowly going bald over this project!!! Thanks.

    Video_Ts Conversion - Poor Quality

Hi I've got some home videos recorded from my Sony Handycam that I wanted to convert from the Video_TS folder so that I can edit the videos in iMovie or any other editing software. I've tried using Toast and Handbrake etc but I'm not getting the same quality as the original source. The videos are of sporting action with a ball moving at high speeds, which plays fine with the original Video_TS files but when I convert it doesn't result in the same smooth movement of the ball as it did in the original and is a little bit patchy. The conversion is decent but not quite good enough. Would appreciate any help with the issue and is there any way I can convert those videos for editing with perfect quality? Thanks

    Sudden Media Capacity Problem

We've been using Toast forever to burn our DVDs and Blurays. (We have the latest version) We have burned several this wedding season with no problems, some .iso files upwards of 4.2gb ....we are well aware that even though DVDs have a 4.7gb capacity, it's really less than that...which is fine, and not the issue. The issue is that suddenly out of no where, Toast is now underestimating the capacity of DVDs... It's saying available space on DVDs is only 3.14gb. Every other type of media seems to be accurate. Even copying a pre-existing DVD will not work, even though we have not changed anything in our work flow. Has anyone else experienced this or have a fix for it? Checked for updates and there are none, and as far as I know, we haven't done one recently. I did try deleting the preferences from our library and restarting, as that was suggested on another forum, but that didn't help. I have not tried re-installing the program yet, I guess that would be the next step but thought I would check if anyone here has experienced this. Thanks!

    Dvd Not Burning?

Hi, My office has recently purchased a LaCie BluRay/DVD player/burner and with it came Toast11. We are trying to burn a regular DVD on Toast 11 but it crashes whenever we attempt to do so. It allows us to set up, choose all settings etc, but when it comes to actually burning it fails. We click the 'burn' button, and a new window opens with a progress bar. At the bottom of this it says 'complete' - and the progress bar doesn't move. Shortly after, the window saying toast has unexpectedly quit pops up and we try again. The computer then registers that we have inserted a blank DVD. Are we doing something wrong? It seems like the computer itself (brand spankig new iMac) is speaking to the LaCie very well, but the communication falters with toast. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Sophy.

Converting Dvd To Mp4 With Captions

When using Toast to convert a DVD to an mp4 file with the captions from the DVD transfer to the mp4 file?
  17. Hi, I just received 4 DVDs from our wedding photographer for our photos. It came with a "Roxio Restore" software in it. I believe these are backups created with Toast (I followed the link provided in the restore software, but it does not specify which version of Toast was used). When I run the Roxio Restore it keeps asking me to insert disc #1 even though that's the disc in the drive. I noticed when Roxio Restore asks for the disc by name, it has "/" in it (e.g. "Disc 5/20/12#1") while the real disc name seems to have underscore (Disc 5_20_12#1). Could this be the issue? Is there any way to restore these discs? I know I can copy the individual files manually, but some photos are split into multiple discs, so that would be the last option. I use Windows 7 x64, and I tried two different DVD drives. Thank you in advance. Deniz
  18. Roxio Creator NXT will not burn tivo programs to disc. I have tried two different external DVD drives. Same result each time. Everything seems to be going perfectly, and then it stops at 8%. The program just freezes. Anyone encounter this?
  19. Hi, I've looked through the forum and I cannot seem to find this problem. This error is not a DVD disc problem as I have made a disc image a few times with exactly the same problem. I have quite a large video file, just under 2 hours and then 2 smaller video files. I've been through all the files and there are no problems with them before entering Toast. Due to the size / length of the videos Toast has to compress them a little bit to fit them onto a single layer DVD. The quality is fine, but every time that the video fades to black or fades from black etc, it freezes for a split second before continuing. Why is this, and how can I fix this? Has anyone else come across this problem? Many thanks in advance to anyone that replies. Phil

    Blu-Ray "unstable Connection" Error

Hey everyone, I'm on an iMac (Lion 10.6.8), running Toast 11 Titanium, and trying to burn a Blu-Ray DVD. I've installed the plug-in needed. However, the project will go through encoding and multi-plexing, and then give me "Error 4: Unstable Connection" once it starts the "writing" portion. I'm using an external drive from MCE Technologies to do this (It's an LG Venus DS5). I've called their customer service and was told that they have never experience this particular issue with the drive. They suggest a software issue. The computer DOES recognize the drive, so I know that that isn't the issue. It connects via USB 2.0 So far, I have tried burning to both Memorex BD-R Blu-ray discs and Verbatim BD-R Blu-ray discs but have had no luck. I don't want to waste anymore discs, so will have to go and get a rewritable for future tests. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, thoughts, or experience with these issues? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Stokes
  21. I am confused about what I should have received with my purchase of the Easy VHS to DVD for Mac. Does anyone have information to clarify any of the following issues? What I received in the package does appear to match what is described in the reviews or on the ROXIO web page. I received: 1 capture device 1 adapter for Video/Audio connections 1 USB Extension Cable 1 CD with only two items: the Roxio Video Capture.app and its Documentation. The web page states that Roxio Easy VHS to DVD for Mac Contents: Installation CD, including Easy VHS to DVD Capture software Roxio® Toast® 9 Basic disc burning software [*]Roxio Video Capture USB hardware USB extension cable Video Inputs: Composite video (RCA) and S-Video (mini-DIN) Audio Inputs: Stereo audio (RCA) First, should Toast Basic have been included? The package does NOT list Toast Basic as part of the contents. But the ROXIO web page does, as noted above. Second, the version of the Roxio Video Capture app I received is v2.0.1, dated 04 Oct 2012. The "single" screen of this app looks nothing like the "multiple" screen shots advertised on the ROXIO web page for this product. The reviews appear to only discuss versions such as v1.0.3 for the Mac. In addition, the ROXIO web page only provides an update to v1.0.5 for download. If v2.0.1 is the current version, why isn't there an update to v2.0.1? Third, the documentation included appears to match the app's single screen for the video capture. But then the documentation describes using a "Preview" and "Trim" function, plus a "Save and Send" function. None of these functions are available on any buttons or menus within the Roxio Video Capture.app (v2.0.1) as far as I can find. I am expecting a replacement package from Amazon.com because of these issues. But if the replacement is the same as the first package, how do I purchase the correct package? Or is there a better choice? One alternative is to purchase Toast 11 Titanium or Pro. But it is not clear to me if these packages contain the Capture Device and cables. Thanks Frank
  22. I bought the video capture USB device, brought it home, installed the correct drivers, then I plugged the device in. I plugged up the VCR to the device and puled up VLC and configured it correctly and it worked. It continued working for several days, then stopped. Now when I do the above, I only get sound but I do not get video. I have tried everything from trying new USB ports to uninstalling the drivers and programs and doing a fresh install, but even that doesn't work. I still get no video but I get sound. I have tried the device on other computers and they all work correctly. By this time I had already searched every inch of the Roxio website knowledge base, my problem exists nowhere on the internet that I have seen. Similar problems exist but they all have solutions that don't matter to my device. Although I have tried them. I have tried for days to get ahold of someone in tech support from Roxio, but each time I can't. I was wondering if it was the USB device, but it's not since it works on other computers. I wondered if it's my computer, which I don't know Windows 7 well enough to figure that out yet but it seems fine. All this proves that anything in the knowledge base won't fix my problem. If someone could help me with this, I'll provide any information you like to help you understand this problem. Thank you anyone who replies.
  23. Hello, Any help for the Noob? I burned a wonderful blu-ray disc image but I can't figure out how to turn that into a playable blu-ray dvd. When I use the ISO setting, it merely reburns that same disc image on to a blu-ray DVD-Rom. Can you please let me know the steps to making the image burn as playable? I would appreciate a screen grab when appropriate. I'm using Mac Toast Titanium 11 Pro. I really appreciate your help!!!! Kirk
  24. So i purchased the VHS to DVD 3 plus from Best Buy. I opened it up, everything seemed fine. I go to register my product via the disc and it says Product not validated, could not validate product key, please try again. So after i type it in correctly about 10 times i give up. I register it on the forums and it recognizes the code, and what it is. I really don't understand what's going on?

Burned Dvd Unwanted Repeating Upon Ending

Greetings, Using Toast Titanium 11.1 with OSX 10.8.2, I have successfully created a DVD with a menu and automatic chapters. The disc plays correctly at the start, however upon ending the file immediately starts again at the beginning. A related issue occurs at the actual ending of the movie file, the movie stops several frames short of the exact ending so that the viewer does not get the true ending of the movie, then the repeat issue occurs. 'Play all items continuously' was checked. When that filter is unchecked, the menu gets placed at the end of the movie after creation. Auto-play disc is unchecked however in the second scenario the movie will immediately start when the disc is inserted in the player. Nothing is making sense, any help would be greatly appreciated. As usual, this is on a deadline of today. Thanks, Scott
