  1. Where to begin. Bought this software in good faith hoping to get some old VHS tapes of my band onto the web. What a crock this has turned out to be. Hooked the video up to the composite cables, launched the software, it asked for the dongle to be connected which I did...and nothing. Audio but no video. Just the green screen of doom (which has taken over from the blue screen of death...not that I get that on my mac) I've tried using scart->composite cables and plugging those into the device...no dice. I've scoured the forum and the on,y responsive I've ever seen is "make sure you launch the software before you plug in the device"...unfortunately, it didn't work. I'm incredibly disappointed that something advertised as "Easy" is most definitely not...I wonder if I can get my money back as this product is definitely not fit for purpose. I'm running a Mac book pro with OSX v10.8.4

Mac Spec Comparison For Use With Toast 10

Hi there, I work for a business that uses Toast 10 very heavily on a daily basis. At the moment we use the following machine: Apple 21" iMac Processor 3.06GHz Intel Core i3 Memory 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ATI Radeon HD 4670 256MB OS X Mountain Lion My question is whether there would be significantly reduced processing time burning data to discs using Toast 10 if we upgraded to the soon to be released Mac pro desktop (I'm assuming I won't be allowed to post the link so I've summarised a few points below). It's a little difficult to give exact stats to compare to, as the machine hasn't been released yet, but the promo is suggesting some of the following: - New gen xeon processors (12 core) - up to 60gb memory bandwidth - up to 40gb pci express bandwidth Basically, I'm just wondering if there is a point at which upgrading the hardware will no longer bring much benefit to the performance of Toast as I have no doubt this new Mac will cost a fortune. The investment will be worth it though if it means that Toast will perform significantly faster. Thank you in advance for your advice.

How Do I Get Movies Music And Games?

  5. Hi, I am using a camera with a bnc video output. I'm able to use a bnc to av cable adapter to connect my camera to a Roxio vhs to dvd capture for mac (Version 2.0.1). My camera can record with a field rate of 60fps. However, when I flip frame by frame with Roxio, I'm coming up with 30fps. I do not know if this is a recording issue, or a play back issue. Can the Roxio vhs to dvd capture for mac record 60fps? Thank you and have a good day. -REC.

    Latest Toast Updater File Availability

Can anyone explain why Roxio doesn’t post the latest version of the Toast updater on the “Software Updates” page? The version that’s listed for download is always the previous updater. Seems to me that it would be prudent to either list the latest, or just list all of them (with version numbers).
  7. Just had my first not so pleasant experience using Toast 11.1 with Mac OS 10.8.4. Was creating a picture DVD. Set-up works fine. However, burning seems to create a problem while finishing. Appears as if it is hanging (spinning beach ball) when writing the lead-out. Aborted and force quit the application. Restarted to remove unmounted DVD. Then inserted DVD. Upon examination of the DVD, it works and does not appear to be damaged. So, where do we go from here?

Blu-Ray Dvd Burn With 5.1 Surround Sound

Hey guys, I'm currently in a small jam... I'm trying to burn a Blu-ray dvd with 5.1 Dolby surround sound but some how toast 11 keeps encoding it at a 192kbps... I'm exporting out of my Avid Symphony with 5.1 surround sound but Toast will convert the audio files.... Have you guys found any work arounds?
  9. OK, downloaded Toast 11 Titanium this afternoon for the Tivo Transfer feature. Running on a Macbook Pro under OSX 10.8.3. I have two TiVO's on the home network; Series 3 HD and a Premier XL both on the same Media Code. The Premier shows all of the contents on the right view but nothing will transfer. Simply no action at all. The Series 3 HD allows the show to be selected and claims that it is being downloaded (Blue Light Icon), but further query shows that 0 bytes have transfered and is waiting. Action ends after 20 - 30 seconds. No shows transferred. What a way to start a software relationship. Growl is turned off and video downloads and transfers are enabled on the devices from My Tivo DVR Preferences. Both devices as well as the MAC have been rebooted. What am I missing? Is this bad TEC or Suck Product?
  10. I was browsing the forums, to ssee if the HD Pro Capture Card would work on my Mac, but apparently, only if I am "Virtual Machine" or "VMWare". I did research those, but they were confusing....Could someone explain it to me? Is it just like opening a Windows computer, inside of a Mac? Please help.
  11. Hy,sorry for my bad english^^ I i just want to know if it is possible to install the Video Caputure program on my iMac beacouse my pc is old and it cant handle the capture well. 12. I am confused about what I should have received with my purchase of the Easy VHS to DVD for Mac. Does anyone have information to clarify any of the following issues? What I received in the package does appear to match what is described in the reviews or on the ROXIO web page. I received: 1 capture device 1 adapter for Video/Audio connections 1 USB Extension Cable 1 CD with only two items: the Roxio Video Capture.app and its Documentation. The web page states that Roxio Easy VHS to DVD for Mac Contents: Installation CD, including Easy VHS to DVD Capture software Roxio® Toast® 9 Basic disc burning software [*]Roxio Video Capture USB hardware USB extension cable Video Inputs: Composite video (RCA) and S-Video (mini-DIN) Audio Inputs: Stereo audio (RCA) First, should Toast Basic have been included? The package does NOT list Toast Basic as part of the contents. But the ROXIO web page does, as noted above. Second, the version of the Roxio Video Capture app I received is v2.0.1, dated 04 Oct 2012. The "single" screen of this app looks nothing like the "multiple" screen shots advertised on the ROXIO web page for this product. The reviews appear to only discuss versions such as v1.0.3 for the Mac. In addition, the ROXIO web page only provides an update to v1.0.5 for download. If v2.0.1 is the current version, why isn't there an update to v2.0.1? Third, the documentation included appears to match the app's single screen for the video capture. But then the documentation describes using a "Preview" and "Trim" function, plus a "Save and Send" function. None of these functions are available on any buttons or menus within the Roxio Video Capture.app (v2.0.1) as far as I can find. I am expecting a replacement package from Amazon.com because of these issues. But if the replacement is the same as the first package, how do I purchase the correct package? Or is there a better choice? One alternative is to purchase Toast 11 Titanium or Pro. But it is not clear to me if these packages contain the Capture Device and cables. Thanks Frank

    Poor Hd Encoding

I have an imac (2.5 ghz intel core i5, 4gb ram, osx 10.6.8) so I bought the LaCie d2 Blu-ray Burner which comes with T11 Titanium and the HD Plug-in. Okay, so the menu options are unexceptable for anything professional but I am just trying to output a blu-ray version of a doc I produced for a film fest... I have tried MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 at "best" and "custom" cranked all the way up. It all looks the same and basically awful. There is nothing wrong with my HD footage (mostly shot with a Sony 5U XDCAM) I shot mostly at 720p and edited in AIC with FCP, Exported native (AIC) and gave that file to toast to encode. The video averages 20mbs (on playback my PS3 can display the bit rate) and peaks around 25-29. No matter what, I can't get it to go higher or look better. I have one scene I shot with a Cannon 7D at 1080i which looks so bad it's as if I dropped a water affect on it. Parts of this video actually look better on the NTSC DVD version. I know that different encoders use different numbers of passes and different "math" to achieve different results... Is toast just a low end product or is there any way I can get this thing to output better video? Is there an alternative to Toast on a mac? I have to mail this thing to the fest like yesterday... Getting desperate. Thanks!!!
  14. i just recently got the Toast 11 recommended by Tivo for my new Tivo Premeire. have it running on Mountain Lion 10.8.2 i noticed there's a separate process in Activity Monitor that runs even when Mac2Tivo doesn't, called "RXTivoServer". 1) does that mean i can "quit" the Mac2Tivo application and the server part will still run in the background & work with the Tivo? & 2) is there a Menulet for this somewhere? thanks.
  15. Hi Roxio Community, Have a problem with Toast 11. Trying to burn a Disc Image created in Adobe Encore. When I drag in the .iso file from Finder it loads up as expected but when I go into the settings it shows that the quality is only Very Good and not Identical as it shows when I copy direct from a DVD directly as opposed to an iso file? The compression is showing as 'Low' and the quality is less than 100% match to the original. Why is this? I have already encoded it Toast please don't try and re-encode it! In seriousness, is it something that will be a problem? Should I just burn it from Disk Utility? Really appreciate any help or advice. Best wishes, Alex

    Mac-No Recorder Found

When I try to burn Video and photographs to a DVD on my Mac it comes up with "Recorder not Found". I have used TOAST 11 before to Burn a DVD slide show incorporating Video clips and Photographs and therefore, why can it not find the Recorder. On the Apple Mac how do I find the Recorder details to enter in the TOAST window?

Spin Doctor 1.0.1 On Mac Os10.8

I am huge fan of the last version of the Roxio Spin Doctor product. So when I updated my computer and updated to the new Toast 11 & Spin Doctor X, I was mildly impressed with the facelift but I'm running into some issues. Am I missing something? - When I encode a record using my USB turntable it sounds great, looks great then when I import it to itunes it lops off the first 10 to 20 seconds... when I got back to the source its fine. I can save the source as an AIFF and import it in to iTunes manually and it sounds great so what gives am I doing something wrong? - Also there is a wicked delay now that I'm having to adjust for. From the time the sound passes from the stylus to when I hear it. At first I thought it was a system thing so I restarted the computer, ran the permissions and defraged the computer and still acts all funky. - None of the Filters are stored so I have to retweek each track Any insite to these issues would be awesome thanks

    Mac Software?

Hello, I just recently bought the Roxio Game capture 1 and didn't count on all my PCs to break by the time it got here. So I have my Mac but it is not compatible. Is there any software for the Game Capture that is compatible with the mac? Thank you so much!
  19. I'm having a problem getting video to show in preview window when connected to VCR. Audio is Fine. Data Screen shows up (counter, date, time from VCR) but no actual image from the recorded tape. Just a blue screen behind the counter. So information is going through the yellow RCA wire, just not the video. I'm using Easy VHS to DVD for Mac. Mac is intel, quad core I'm able to record 8mm tapes from my old camcorder without a problem. VCR plays tapes fine to TV. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

  22. just installed snow leopard 10.6.8 onto my imac. and would like the update for Toast 8. Need 8.0.3 Can't find it anywhere. Can anyone help? Thanks!
  23. Hi, I recently attempted to copy a MKV file (Blue Ray Rip/720p) to turn into a DVD, which would be used for playback on my DVD/Mac/XBOX 360, etc. So it needs to be multi-zone. The disc I am using is a Sony DVD-R (120 minutes4.7gig). When I get to the video menu, I select the file, which it recognizes and tells me I have 197.4mb left in space. The MKV file has this listed (video; avc/h.264,1280 x 528, 23.98 fps) (audio;DTS, 5.1, 48000 Hz) I attempted to burn this as is, which it did burn the MKV file to a disc, but once in the Mac drive, it does not recognize it as a DVD (double clicking this file, shows the MKV is on the disc) and it does not recognize this on other devices. Can you tell me where I am going wrong, please? Regards Jon
  24. Hello, I'm using Roxio Easy VHS to DVD for mac. When I'm previewing, the vhs recording, the audio is perfect in sync but after transfering it begins or just is a few secconds ahead of the picture. So in my case, I can HEAR the speaker speak before the person is speaking b/c a couple of seconds later, you SEE him speaking with zero audio b/c it justplayed ahead of time Grrrr. Any ideas on how i can sync the voice and picture so it comes out exactly as it is recorded on the VHS tape, i.e. without the delay? Thx.
