Does Roxio NXT5 write and convert mkv files?

Hi, I have a movie file that's an MKV. Video is H264 - MPEG4 AVC (part 10) (avc1), 704x578, 25 fps. Audio is AC3. The file is 1.43 GB. When I drop it into Toast 12 in the DVD Video window, the program accepts it. But then when I try to burn a DVD, or write a disk image, the program crashes in short order. (Then it won't start up again, and I have to restart the Mac.) I'm using Toast 12, OS X 10.10.3, an i5 iMac with 8 GB of RAM. I have transcoded the file to an MP4 with H264 video, using HandBrake. Toast seems to be happy with that, but it's taking a long time. However, that's not the cleanest procedure. Is there something I'm doing wrong in Toast? Is there a better workaround?

when using Creator.... i was able to upload an MKV file and convert to ISO. however Audio will not burn... so when playing back i get a perfect Menu, Perfect Video quality... but i can't hear anything.... need help...

Hi there, I am not very technical. But I bought a Mac Mini PPC G4 as use it as a media centre. I got given some MKV files. I dont need to convert them, I just wanted to watch them on the computer. Does Toast 10 support MKV files (to watch)? I have toast 11 on my macbook and it does it fine, but I didnt see whether Toast 10 does it. Also, Would Toast 10 also work on my Mac Mini. Its not an intel based machine and not much other software works on it. Was just wondering whether I am wasting my time here.

Setup: Mac OS 10.8.2 & Windows 7 (in Parrallels) Handbrake 0.9.8 x86_64 OWC Mercury Pro Blu-ray Burner Toast 11 Tintanium (11.0.6) Verbatim Bluray & DVD blanks (Rewriteables used to do "test burns"). Sony BDP-S370 Blu-ray Player What I'm doing: - I'm archiving a number of old camera tapes by capturing to the Mac using FCP7. - I then use Handbrake to convert the tapes (mov files) to MKV files each about 7GB in size. (Just my personal choice). - I run all my MKV files through "MKV Chapterizer" using the default of a chapter marker every 5 minutes. (Personal choice). Burning to a Blu-ray disc: - I use Toast 11 Tintanium (11.0.6) - DATA tab; DVD-ROM (UDF) setting for burning the 3 MKV files to a blank BD disc. Getting to the problem: - The 3 MKV files I've prepared total about 21Gbs. I burn to a blank Blu-ray disc using Toast. Burning completes successfully and I put the disc in my Sony BDP-S370. - The first two MKV files play OK, I can FF or FR and jump chapter markers. - However when I play the 3rd MKV file, it's starts OK, but I cannot FF or FR nor can I access chapter markers. Instead I get this message: "This operation currently prohibited for this disc". I have been trying to figure out a solution to this for far to long. The ONLY solution I have been able to come up with is to burn the MKV files using IMGBURN in Windows 7. The 3 MKV files that I couldn't burn successfully with Toast 11 (&OSX) I cou;ld burn successfully using IMGBURN in Windows 7. FF & FR work, and I can jump chapter markers without issue on all 3 files. Anyone know what's going on?? Is this something to do with UDF in Toast 11 and/or OX10.8? Thanks in advance. Robert.

Hi there, I want to convert a MKV video file but Popcorn 4 (v 4.0.2) is unable to render the image, only audio (see screenshot). The mKV video file works pervect in VLC, any suggestion? thanks! p
