  1. I've been using Roxio Creator NXT3 with Roxio Easy VHS to DVD USB device for capturing analog video onto my Windows 8.1-based PC. I've had very good success with transferring VHS via my VCR. However, I'm having problems when trying to transfer Hi8 from my Sony Hi8 camcorder via the Easy VHS device. The picture in the camcorder viewfinder is very clear, but the capture view is very distorted-- I believe the problem is called Luminance, but not sure about that. I have tried both an RCA connection and S-Video (there is no Firewire on this unit). I've checked either Composite or S-Video in the Video Capture Options tab, depending upon connection I'm using. Perhaps this capture device does not work with Hi8? If so, can someone recommend a device that works with Hi8, providing good quality? Thanks for the assistance.
  2. Greetings, I am digitizing Hi8 tapes (NTSC). If I use the H.264 Compression setting, what is the appropriate Resolution setting and what is the best Frame Rate to select. The H.264 seems less fuzzy then when using the MPEG2 compression. What should be the best settings when digitizing Hi8 tapes? Thanks, Gary
  3. Hi everyone, I just bought this product today and I got some problems already. For some reason It can't detect my Camcorder. I have my own "audio/video - white/yellow" cable plugged in from my camcorder > roxio hardware > usb3.0 . But the problem it says "No Video Signal" and I can't click the record button. When I play it from the camcorder. I can hear the audio from the tape but it goes on and off. and I can hear this annoying static noise. Can you please help me step by step how to digitize hi8 tapes? Thanks David
  4. I just got Toast a few days ago, and the first thing I'm doing is burning dvds of .mov files I've transferred to my computer from old VHS tapes and Hi8 tapes. As I'm looking over the footage to edit/ add chapters and such in Toast, I'm noticing that the quality of the video is reduced (and remains this way when burn to a dvd). There are horizontal lines that appear (apparently in conjunction with movement) and create a distorted look to the footage. Here are two examples: I'm concerned because this seems to be consistent with all the footage I've imported (all this VHS/Hi8 footage was imported through a program called Ezcap, using an RCA to USB cable). Also I wanted to note that I don't have these issues when playing back the footage on their original machines (VHS/videocamera), in any programs (such as QuickTime) or anywhere else (one or two clips have been uploaded to YouTube and don't display these imperfections) Can anyone please help me identify what the cause of these imperfections may be, and what I can do to get rid of them when I burn to dvd?
