Hi I have a standard Roxio game capture with a year warranty. I have recently been having problems with the software as when I load up the Roxio shortcut it comes up with script error line 0 position 1 <?xml version ="1.0" encoding ="UTF-8"?>. I have uninstalled the programme and reinstalled it yet it still keep coming up with the same script error. Also I have used the repair option. When I go on to updates and run it on the software it just keeps coming up with " unable to find roxio game capture on your device please uninstall and then reinstall" I have done this several times and it keeps coming up with the same thing. PLEASE HELP!!! WANT TO START RECORDING AGAIN!!

You have to look WITHIN the specific software.

I have McAfee on this PC so I would open its' control panel and turn off these two ;)

I have Norton on another PC and while similar, the steps are a little different  (I do not buy any AV that contains Reg Cleaners unless they can be disabled -_-)

...and what does your Device Manager look like now??? (post 4)

One User recently reported that changing the USB port he had been using fixed that error. Might want to try different ports AND a different USB Cable -_-

I will say the 'device failed' has been a tough one to track down and fix!

 NO pictures came through...

Info on posting pics is HERE

Maybe we can shortcut this a step... Try a Proper Repair, add Nothing, skip Nothing:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

Let us know ;)

OK, I'm not really getting through...

You need to get someone else to join you and go over all of this. They don't have to be an 'expert' just need to get 2 heads in there so one might see what the other is missing ;)

Some screen caps of your Device Manager as well as your RGC Program and errors would help.

Windows will "tell you" everything is great even when it doesn't work

I am guessing that you had it plugged in when you looked :D

Let's try a proper repair - follow this steps, skip nothing, add nothing, don't know, ask ;)
