Roxio Creator 2012 Doesn't Recognize M4A Audio Files

Question

Roxio Creator 2012 doesn't recognize the CODEC inside m4a (Apple ACC) files. The proper CODEC is available in the system but Roxio doesn't find it. Is there some way to update the audio file types Creator 2012 recognizes?

You didn't mention which application in Creator 2012 you were using, but .M4A is not the accepted file types for Burn Audio CD.

I don't know of any way you can add the format to that simplified Sonic module.

On the other hand Roxio Music Disc Creator [Create Music Disc Projects] is an original Roxio application, and accepts my .M4A files happily.

Perhaps you should be using Music Disc Creator.

I am using Music Disk Creator. The CODEC in the problem music files is mpeg dash and Roxio doesn't recognize it. I can convert it to mp3 but Roxio should be able to handle the CODEC. Does anyone know if another version of Roxio handles this CODEC?

Is that a video file or an audio file or both? Could it be copyright protected? Where did you get it? Can you provide a link to the download so we can try it?

Why should Roxio handle this codec? The codec is newer than Creator 2012. If you supply a link, we'll see if NXT2 will handle it.

IE 11 (on W7) will not even play the dash examples that I found. It is supposed to with W8. Chrome 37 will play the video OR the audio but not both.
