garyrrnr@aol.com
Here is a problem I started having a few weeks ago after using Creator NXT for the past 18 months or so. While going from the edits I've made on Storyline to "Make Movie," all goes fine until I go to play the file BACK. Quite often now at some point during the playback, I get this message: "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file." And the playback stops. It's not just Windows Media Player either. It happens no matter what player I use. And the file is corrupt. What could be causing that? I'm going to AVCHD 1920X1080/24p. The program just started doing this in recent weeks. Any help you can give would be appreciated! I'm a longtime Video Wave user.
d_deweywright
My first thought is possibly a drive error. Describe your system for us, drives, sizes, free space. You might want to run a disk test on the drives to verify there aren't problems. In Windows Explorer, right-click on the drive, select Properties, and then select the "Tools" tab. Then you can select the "check now" button. To scan for bad sectors, make sure that checkbox is selected. Let us know.
garyrrnr@aol.com
d_deweywright, I will certainly try that. Thanks for the tip and I'll let you know what happens.
d_deweywright
Keep in mind, scanning for bad sectors will take a long time (hours) on a large drive.
garyrrnr@aol.com
d_deweywright.... I did go ahead and run a scan on my main "C" drive. And you are right, it took awhile. But that probably needed to happen regardless. I have deduced though that my problem was that I have the Roxio editing software on my C drive and I'm saving and storing to another drive. I have lots of video clips stored on multiple drives because I do a lot of editing. Anyway, I truly believe this is what was causing the problem. When I went from "C" drive to "C" drive, no problems. But sure enough, the 2nd video I edited after this scan that went "C" directly to "K," I got the same error. I'm about 90% certain that's what the issue was/is. I really appreciate your suggestions though. It's nice to know there's a forum that can handle questions like mine. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm a long-time Video Wave user. d_deweywright
Glad to hear you've found a route that works. I often have my original video on one drive, and then render to another (M: and L: in my case) and have yet to notice a problem. Any chance your K: drive is an external drive connected via USB? That shouldn't cause a problem, but just looking for another data point.
cdanteek
I never render to my 'C' drive because it's a SSD drive and only 119GB after formating. I've never encountered a problem rendering to another internal SATA connected hard drive. I think you have other problems.
garyrrnr@aol.com
I hear what both of you are saying. It's not an external drive connected by USB. All I can say is it doesn't seem to happen since I've stayed C drive to C drive. I'll keep trying. Thanks.
