Creating Two Files

Little old lady

Question

I am using VHS to DVD 3 Plus. I have burned 3 DVD so far and everything worked fine, but when I tried to burn the fourth DVD I now am getting a error when I try to play them in the DVD player. When I looked at the directory on the DVD it now lists two files. They are titled "Roxiplasma" and "Video_T". I did not change any settings. I uninstalled the Roxio and reinstalled trying to get the original settings but no luck. I am not a computer wizz and am about to take it to the Geek Squad for help but thought I would try you guys since you seem to know a lot.

I took your advice and tried it in another player and I worked okay. When I burned the other 3 DVD's they took about 3-4 hours each but this DVD only took about 30 minutes to burn so that might also be part of my problem but I do not know how to change the burn speed. I am using Sony DVD-R 16x/1X 4.7 GB/Go

Thanks a million for your help

So what is the error you are getting? I doubt very much that the Geek Squad will be able to help you

Those 2 folders on the DVD are the correct folders, you will also have them on the other DVDs.

You have to tell us a bit more on what you are doing before anybody can offer suggestions.

Some further info...I am trying to take some old VCR tapes of my kids and grandkids when they were small and put them onto DVD's to preserve them. I was doing well until now. When I looked at the directories on the other DVD's, you are right, the folders are there. I did not look at the directories before because they played in my DVD player okay. I am transferring the videos to my computer, editing them and then burning them to the DVD.

Have you played the DVD on your computer's player?

If your disc does have a VIDEO_TS folder on it and it still doesn't play, it could be a number of issues:

1) Your disc is of a poor quality -- What brand of DVDs are you using?

2) You burned your disc at too high a speed. (It's best to burn it at half the rated speed.)

3) Your disc player just doesn't like home-burned discs.
