Roxio Game Cap Hd Pro Converting .mp4 Files Into .mt2S?

Question

When I record with my Roxio game cap HD pro for maybe an hour or so I stop and check out the recording file, but I see a .mp4 file that doesn't work and a .m2ts file that works. The video was recording with the .mp4 format, but was converted to m2ts. This only happens when I record for a long period of time. I tested it and I recorded a 5 minute video and it stayed .mp4, but one hour and over becomes .m2ts. Can the recording time be the problem?

Honestly??? I have not recorded for that long lately.

You are implying that the software changes from one format to a completely different one after an hour which is not even possible

BUT we are dealing with computers, so I will set up a long record and see what happens ;)

Well isn't that interesting...

It appears it was doing it before but I had not noticed

I will have to play with it a bit more but this is what I got this morning:

Start Recording:

Resulting M2TS file is started:

post-39730-0-78253200-1411647895_thumb.jpg

(ignore the XX file, it was a false start and I should have deleted it!)

At 1:17, I stop recording:

Results is the start of a MP4 file:

If played I get this:

post-39730-0-40586300-1411647980_thumb.jpg

I did notice that there was an Error Message which I did not capture but I suspect has to do with the Converter failing shortly into the process!

I think the process is to do an m2ts capture and then convert it to mp4 when the recording is stopped...

If that is the case, then it should be possible to do a manual output... Let's call this Band Aid One

Had a chance to play some more... Essentially the Basic Proper Repair does fix this.

1+ Hour capture file:

Auto Convert to mp4:

The Repair takes you back to the original version and after reboot when you start the RGC software, it will offer to upgrade to SP2.

Run that and it should work for you ;)

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

I still am not getting what you did here, and why does it only happen to big files?

Oh, that's easy - I don't know!

I don't work for Roxio, I didn't write the program or have access to the code...

Oh, I thought you did sorry about that. You reply on many threads so I assumed you did.

This is not official Roxio Support

Nobody on these boards works for Corel/Roxio (except for Rox-Ralf who pops in once awhile). We are just users trying to help each other.

I had no clue. Sorry. I'm going to try out what the Digital Guru said earlier, thanks.
