No Sound Though Component/hdmi Capture Device.

TheDragy

Question

I was searching the forum for some help for the problem that i have, been busy 5hrs to figure out how to solve that problem, i don't figure it out yet.

I have a component cable connection from my PS3 to a component/HDMI converter – HDMI cable to the Roxio HD capture card -- from there HDMI cable to my tv/monitor.

Now the problem is: i got no sound on my tv/monitor nor roxio software, picture is also messy when starting the game, but i can record it with no sound.

The PS3 settings are component output and also sound, but somehow the capture card can't recive the converted sound from the converter -- the converter works fine (tested on tv/monitor).

Thank you.

And pardon my english, i'm dutch and i forget sometimes a couple of letters ..

Thanks, but on that configuration i recorded a bunch of gamevideo's (ofcourse with approval) and the quality is very low ... they are all too blurry, the subtitles are hardly to read or what is happening. I even export those video's in a different ways to get good quality. But the mp4 output is unstable to use, it is the only plugin what can record reasonable quality with component cables.

"Quality" is a result if THREE things...

PS3 OUTPUT

RGC record setting

RGC Output setting (if VideoWave is used)

The RGC cannot record at a setting higher that what it receives! If you Game is not HD, your PS3 will not output in HD even is you click that setting

The MP4 in RGC should be avoided! Capture and Work in the m2ts and only convert to mp4 IF you actually need it!!! (the vast majority do not)

Your issues stem from trying to ignore the instructions... It can be done, but start and fix everything first then move foward from there

I went back to the recommended setting PS3 -- Component cable -- RGC -- HDMI cable -- tv/monintor

For video output setting i'll use AVCHD 1440x1080/50i ... 24fps ... so far as i know it is not blocky and shocking .. reasonable quality.

If someone maybe have other suggestions to boost it up, please me know ;).

Thank you.

Done, problem solved.

Still using the default gamecapture connection settings and using that program at m2ts. And when editing my video's, using Adobe Premiere by sharpen the video with 15% and export it at H.264 "youtube" setting at 1920x1080 29,97 (MP4), only the export time takes a lot minutes to complete, but i can live with that.

that resolves the laggy quality for a change. Good piture quality on the tv though.

Hi hi ... it is not the VideoWave output quality that i'm worry about or the RGC record settings, i play with it from time to tome checking out what works fine and prefer recording with a m2ts output. But if i linkt the converter to the RGC with a HDMI calbe and get no sound with the HDMI input, only visual. Normaly "it should produce" sound .

The ps3 gives a resolution of 1920x1080 in the systemmenu and the games resolution are based on 720p :D. So the caputrecard hasn't trouble working with it. But the quality from the component cable isn't the best so far i can see, so try to bypass it through hdmi, now that works fine ... better quality but no sound. I don't know if it is the ps3 settings of something with the card, converter works fine after testing it directly to tv.

Yes i have audio cables "what are attachted at the component cable" are in the HDMI converter, when not, nothing works. i even switched the red from place, then i getting weird colors on screen.

When i connect the HDMI cable output from the converter into the tv .. i got sound and pitcure.

Something tells me that the HDCP works half ... 1 part picture and 1 part no sound.... it is verry weird and can't figure it out what is causes.

If by switching the "red cable from place" (whatever that means) you get weird screen colors then something is completely wrong in your hookup. The Red cable should only be used for audio and has no effect on video if connected correctly.

Why are you using a converter?

Walt, I suspect he's swapping the red video connector with the red audio connector, which will indeed cause lot's of weirdness. But you're question is still the right one. He shouldn't need the converter.

He needs to configure the video output on his PS3 so it doesn't do any auto-detection. One solution that others have put forward is to connect the Component cables directly to the TV first, and make sure the video is configured properly, then, without restarting the PS3, reconnect the Component cables to go through the RGC HD Pro device. That has apparently worked for several users.

The game isn't higher than 1440, it runs on 720p. Sorry, too much trouble with upping pics and linking it to here .... actualy, you are right about the quality, what aren't that much different, but there where some text detail pixels in the video.

MP4 recording ... much better :D :D :D :D :D

I tried all settings on the console, even the audio multi output, i think that is for headphones and stuff. Even with HDMI audio output, but he won't listen to that.

I can't remember i tried it with a unpluged headphone reciever  .

Well if the game is in SD (720p) then THAT is the quality you will get and nothing in the world can make it better ^_^

Your Component to HDMI converter is the source of your problems and it is an unneeded piece in the process...

It would be best if you revisit the PS3 >>> Component >>> RGC >>> HDMI >>> TV/Monitor setup and see if you can make it work ;)

Just to be sure... When you say 'Component' we are talking about 5 RCA leads - Red, Blue, Green and separate White & Red for Audio?

I try to avoid the HDCP for making the playthroughts into better quality, the quality is too laggy at the moment with that anoying HDPC bs.

I know how to setup the link of the RGC from ps3 -- component cable -- RGC -- HDMI cable -- monintor/pc. Used most of the time.

I ordered this device to get clearer picture through gaming .. i already tested it with a game and the results are promising, the only problem is there's no sound "only a beeping noise from my tv" and further of the recording is like a 30's movie ... in color . When i link the output HDMI at my tv/monitor i get sound, not when i connect it at the RGC.

So either the device isn't compattlble with the RGC. ...?

Answer is YES ... the converter device is not compatible with the RGC device. Tested it with my PS2 .. when i use this option:

1: component --- converter --- hdmi --- RGC --- hdmi --- tv/monintor --- fail

2: component --- RGC --- hdmi --- tv/monitor --- works

Strangely almost the same as my PS3 only when i use (option 1) i'll have no sound .

Anyway .. thank you for the trouble and advices ;).

I call BS on that statement!

I have been making video from that time BEFORE CD's & DVD's even were made! There is absolutely NO Difference between Any HD format!!!!

Now YOU can screw one up through the settings (source or output) and that is the only way you will get a difference.

Posting pictures here hard??? You have got to be kidding! :o

Nope i'm not kidding, i didn't see that attachtment option the 1st time.

Yep, i googled and read about it that HD stuff with componed or HDMI cable.

Like this for example (see screen), the game is more clearer on my tv. Even the Xbox versions are better quality. When i record it in MP4 i got more better pitcure and better export result. But if people adivce not to use the MP4 recording option, why do they program it when it is not stable?

I can't even adjust my own quality output option with videowave, i tried some other video editing progams, but they crash everytime when it coms to loading or rendering. It almost worked with Sony Vegas, untill the last part of the rendering failed ... wasted time.
