Creator Nxt Will Not Open

Joyce P

Question

I have 2 Videowave projects in the works and I had to clean the pc and update it due to some bugs. After that process done professionally I am unable to open various programs within NXT...such as Videowave, which I'll use as an example. When trying to open a message pops us stating "Videowave has stopped working...". I was told my updated internet securty program was the culprit so I contacted them. We disabled the security program and Videowave still didn't open Then the suggestion was made to unintall/reinstall Creator NXT. I am afaid to do that without first speaking with you...afraid I might (1) lose the current work-in-progess and (2) be unable to reinstall NXT (does it disappear when it's uninstalled?)

I feel really stupid and really frustrated because I use this program alot and have used Roxio for years...I love it. So any help you can provide will be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Joyce

Try this first Joyce.

Shutdown all programs and disable you firewall and antivirus software, put the installation disc in a drive and run it, a option to run repair should be offered, run the repair option and when finished remove the disc from the drive and reboot the PC.

Now does that help?

Thank you, Digital Guru. I do not have an installation disc bc I downloaded NXT via the i'net. I do have the serial number however. Is that helpful? How do I reinstall not having a disc?

BTW I really appreciate your quick response !

Pay attention I never said reinstall I want you to run a repair on the software!

Do you have the download saved somewhere on your hard drive?

If so double click the setup .exe and when the repair option is offered run it.

I did run a repair as you instructed with Firewall/Antivirus disabled. Then I uninstalled the program and followed the intructions from Roxio site how to reinstall...again...it doesn't work. Will I be able to reinstall a 2nd time since the 1st time didn't work? I am not familiar with the rules.

Please forgive my ignorance. Even if I uninstsall using Revo Uninstaller, do I not need some thing or some way to reinstall? I have no disc as the program was downloaded from the Roxio site. I looked at the Revo Uninstaller info on their site and I don't see anythig about reinstalling. Is that feature included as part of the Uninstaller?

I will appreciate your gudance and your patience. Thank you.

You ran the repair from your Creator download didn't you?

That download is what you used to install Creator originally isn't it?

Do you have the CD Key needed for a install?

In this format letters and numbers, XX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

There is a limit of 10 installs then you need it reset!

I doubt if you keep installing under the same conditions it will work.

Something isn't right.

Thanks for the tip re 10 times... I agree...something isn't right...but where do I look next? Any clues?

After 'Preparing your computer for installing Roxio products'. Things I do before installation, in this order. Disable W-7 W-8 User Account Control (UAC), clean all cache, cookies, private data, clear history, delete the temp file contents (start run %temp%), run disc cleanup, empty the recycle bin, run disc defragmenter on the operating system C / installation drive (do not defrag a SSD Drive). Reboot the PC, close all unnecessary running programs, disconnect from the internet and turn off / stop antivirus and firewall software. Now I'm ready to install the software.
