Toast 12 Not Compatible With Yosemite

ArtizanGBR

Question

Hi Just bought Toast 12, tried to burn an ISO DVD, came up with loads of mac OS errors, after looking on the forums here, found Admins saying 12 is not compatible with Yosemite!!

Why o why is this not stated where a buyer would see - if fact couldn't find any mention on your shop website?

Will this be updated as a free patch? when will it be ready?

OMG paid and downloaded today as I need it for a project, now I'm going to have to find another way :(

Whoa, I'm in a jam. Just bought a new iMac with Yosemite. Then I bought Toast 12 thinking it was the appropriate thing to do based on their own website. I can burn a dvd, but when I try another burn it says "multiplexing" and hangs up eternally during "Writing Lead-In." Wasted countless dvd's already after countless re-starts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Interesting. Have you installed the Toast 12 update? Something to try is to choose Save as Disc Image instead of clicking the burn button and then burning the resulting .toast file to disc using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window.

Hi Tsantee tried your previous suggestion of save as disc image this worked then didn't then did then didn't so still not getting a satisfactory result still plenty DVDs getting wasted, i personally think its a toast problem after i installed the yosemite update its been going loopy since. really annoying as just came from windows pc to mac never had a single issue with Nero burning software but this is a disaster zone!!.....cheers for your reply i hope you have some more suggestions....also tried unplugging drive and plugging back no result......

I know what the administrator wrote but he didn't say what function(s) isn't compatible. It may be disc spanning; we don't know. As for Toast 12 not starting, have you restarted your Mac? Also, trash the Toast plist and prefs files in your User>Library>Preferences folder and reinstall Toast 12. There is nothing in Yosemite preventing Toast from launching.

Yes - restarted the Mac; sometimes Toast starts, other times it doesn't.

Even when it does there are warnings about wrong system version and missing cuda library.

Have only tried burning data disks, as thats all I'm interested in.

Will try the other stuff.

True - I tried to burn a DVD containing four brief videos (all .mpg) using "spotlights" as my menu choice but I could only get it to burn the middle two videos, plus the menu page defaulted to "splash". Repeated with a disk image and got the same results. I hope this can be corrected soon. Toast is about (was about) the only reliable DVD tool for Mac and there are still some of us who depend on it a lot. I did finally make a successful burn using Adobe Premiere Elements 13 but it pales in comparison to Toast.

I'm not certain what there is in Toast 12 that isn't compatible with Yosemite. Did you use the Image File setting in the Copy window for burning your .iso? What were the errors you received? A workaround is to choose the DVD-Rom (UDF) setting in the Toast Data window, click New Disc and drag in the contents of the mounted .iso file.

I just tested this on my MBP running Yosemite and didn't have this problem. I suggest trashing the Toast plist and prefs files in your User>Library>Preferences folder and relaunching Toast. Those files are easily corrupted and it would explain why the menu style wasn't used. Your User Library is accessed by holding down the Option key when selecting the Go menu in the Finder.

I had tried trashing preferences etc. early on but unfortunately continued to get the same results. Guess I shall just wait (impatiently) for a Yosemite patch.

Okay. But it's running fine for me. I suspect there is a different issue than Yosemite compatibility but I may be wrong. If Toast hangs while launching it usually is because Toast is unable to recognize a device that is connected to the Mac. During launch it is looking for any optical drives and any audio and video devices. Maybe something happened that is causing Toast to not recognize something.

Just to be clear - I can open Toast and move about all the menus and tabs. I have tried only ONE thing since installing Yosemite and that was the disk burn of four files mentioned above. I tried that twice (with disk and disk image) and it failed in a strange way (explained above). I cannot comment on other things because I haven't used Toast for anything else since then, assuming (maybe falsely) that I would encounter problems. I will try my luck with a data disk today and see what happens. Just don't like wasting disks which is why I hesitate. But if it seems to work on other computers then maybe mine does have some unique extra. I have used Toast for what seems eons and admit that this is the first problem of this degree I have come across, which is why I am surprised. Always found it to be a very stable product.

Wish I knew what Corel is working to fix with Toast relating to Yosemite. It is unusual for them to admit any problem so hopefully this is a good sign an update will be available soon. I'm pretty sure most functions still work or we'd be seeing a lot more posts about this. Fingers crossed. Thank you for posting your experience.

Interesting. My brother called yesterday to ask about the same problem with an external disc burner. He unplugged it and plugged it back in and the problem went away. My opinion is the problem is with the disc burning drive.
