Toast Suddenly Stopped Burning Bd's

cuylec

Question

I've been burning BD's for months and today it suddenly stopped working. I've tried different disks, different settings...everything I could think of. It's not my BD burner as it's working with other software and files. What's happening specifically is that I'm hitting the 'BURN' button and it asks me to put a BD in, I do. Then Toast says 'Waiting on disc', then eventually pops open my BD player. Anyone else having this problem? I've looked for software updates but I have the latest version. I don't know why suddenly it's stopped working. Thanks!

System Profiler does show the drives correct capability. Checked in Recorder Settings and everything shows up correctly in Toast, but with Status, I've tried both my Philips BD-R discs and Memorex DVD-R, and both search and then end up showing "No Disc".

I have used both with this drive, in earlier OS versions, with no major issue like this.

Any suggestions on other solutions? Is there any update to the BD plugin I'm missing? Or is the incompatibility just from Yosemite update, though I wouldn't think so given that the drive does show up but the discs don't seem to. (?)

Really hoping there is a solution...I have several home video projects I want to be able to burn finally, and I really will be annoyed if I have to update to new Toast, or buy a new burner if that's the only solution.

Do you have the Blu-ray burner selected as the destination in the bottom of the Toast window? Does Apple's System Profiler correctly report the drive's burning capability? In the Recorder Settings window (under the Recorder menu), when you have that drive selected and insert a blank Blu-ray disc, what happens? What about a DVD or CD-R? If you click on the name of the drive in that window you can see the drive's capabilities. Are these what you expect?

Haven't heard of that before, but trash the Toast plist and prefs files in your User>Library>Preferences folder and relaunch Toast to see if that works. Hold down the option key in the Go menu in the Finder to access that library.

I'm sorry but I can't think of a reason or solution. There is no update to the plugin. If Toast recognizes the drive I don't know why it doesn't recognize when a blank disc is inserted. I suppose you've completely shut down the Mac (same with Blu-Ray drive) and restarted and tried a different USB port.
