Split Movie Button Does Not Appear

Stephen3952

Question

I have an edited video ready to burn. I have checked the "Span" box for multiple disc burning. The video is continuous (no linking was required) with many trims added. The total time is 3:44:29 and it was created by editing a previous video that was also continuous. I want to span this across 2 discs,t the "Split Movie" button does not appear. I have registered the product and the box says it is the "Plus" version; the widow ID also indicates "Plus". Why no button?

Well that puts me in the Stump the Chump corner...

Let's try a repair to clean up any possible corruption in the Program!

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your Roxio Capture Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

After that, just slap in some other clips that will be enough to force you to split it. Use anything but your original (to see if it is corrupt) just keep adding the same ones till you exceed disc capacity ;)

You don't need to burn it, just see if we can get that Split to work!

Of course 'Span Disc' has to be selected for it to show up

I have done 3 discs with it and it created projects (not burned) that required 5 discs.

That error is a response from your Burner and has nothing to do with the software.

The EVD3, I think, is one of the best made for the compromises of Features vs. Complexity... But there may be something else that is more suited to your level and personality -_-

That is why there are so many out there ;)

The copyright suggestion is not the problem.

I was concerned that if I tried to reinstall the product I might lose the file and all my edits, so instead I made a copy of the original file. Having two identical files allowed me to alter each one to fit onto one disc each. In effect I created my own split movie.

Jim,

I'll try a newer, external burner I have and connect it to the same computer. Maybe that will work. This computer is running Windows 7, but it was originally a Vista machine, though it does meet all the system requirements for the Roxio program.

As for my personality, are there other people out there who actually thrive on annoyance? :glare: Thank you for the various tips you gave.

My build no. is 301B69C, version VH3. I finally got the "Split Movie" button to appear, but only after reducing the sizes of the original and the copy I made, and selecting both "span Disc" as well as "Compress File". I think the problem is that the file was spanning more than two discs. Perhaps this is not possible, that "multiple" only means "two" in Roxio-speak. Now I can get to the point of burning the discs, but my latest problem is that the program responds with "There was a problem with burning this disc" or similar wording. I don't think this program is worth all the hassle. I thought this was going to be somewhat enjoyable - but no. I really don't need more annoyances in my life.
