Toast 12 ..error -42

error message reads -'Could not record the disc because there are too many files open'..

macbook pro..google chrome/handbrake and toast 12 only programmes up and running .

have downloaded a movie MPEG-4 movie - have dragged/added etc to Toast 12

and after something like about 6 hours has twice now reported the same error message .

original is an MKV handbrake converted to MPEG -both play cleanly on my macbook pro .

the movie on my desktop and in Finder ..the only files open but for some reason refuse to burn to disc????

no idea where to go from here .

what is error -42 ..can't find it on the forums .

So the error happens when Toast is ready to start burning the disc? In that case I suggest choosing Save as Disc Image instead of clicking the burn button. When the .toast file is finished choose it with the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window to burn the disc. By the way, you may find the encoded video still in the Roxio Converted Items folder in your Documents folder. If so, drag in the .m2v and Toast will ask you for the matching .ac3 audio.

thanks for that . yes have the converted items, so something accomplished .

attach a screen grab that might indicate an error ..but all looks OK to me .

unfortunately Toast doesn't suggest any problems until it has done its thing ..

in this case hours later when it grinds to a stop and up pops the error message !!!.

after scouring the forums, working through various approaches , re-installing Toast 12 ,bloody programme still refusing to do its job .

looks as if its back to Toast Basic 9 which seems to be functioning well. so much for updates and support info!!

beware the dreaded ERROR -42 whatever it is.
