gholmes1936
Toast 10.0.9 cannot find my dvd/cd writer which is connected with USB. I am using an iMac with OS 10.10. Connection is supposed to be with an external Samsung DVD/CD Writer S084D. Toast gives me the pull down to select a burner, but it asks me for an I.P. like number. There isn't any for a USB device. tsantee
If you choose System Report... in About This Mac under the Apple menu does the Mac recognize that there is a connected disc burning drive connected via USB? Do you have the drive connected directly to the Mac and not through a USB hub? Is it plugged in to the power supply? If all of these are okay then Toast should see the drive as an option. The only things I can think to try are to trash the Toast plist and prefs files in your User>Library>Preferences folder (hold down the Option key while selecting the Go menu in the Finder to access this library) and/or run Disk Utility's first aid tools. I haven't heard if there is a conflict between Toast 10 and USB drives when running OS 10.10 but that may be this issue as well.
gholmes1936
Guru, Yes the system Report does list it in the 'About This Mac.' It has both USB plugs inserted directly into the iMac. The cable with the dual end USB plugs came with it from Samsung. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Oh, and by the way my daughter works in Eugene, Or as the city's Director of Human Resources. tsantee
Your daughter is a busy woman. Difficult work in this city. I'm at a loss for why Toast isn't recognizing the Samsung burner. Maybe it is a compatibility issue with Yosemite. You can buy Toast 12 as a download from Roxio and they have a 30-day refund policy. They send out emails all the time with steep discounts.
