TWearing
@Jim_Hardin i'm not having the same problem as the post, but i AM running parallels on my macbook. with that said, i was able to install the software, it runs, but won't let me capture any video, giving me a "unknown capture error" message. could that be because i'm running parallels? also, i downloaded the service pack for it, but when i run that, it doesn't even recognize that the software is installed. any help would be appreciated(i already opened a case through the customer/tech support here)

What software do you have installed on your Mac, Roxio Game Capture, or Roxio Game Capture HD Pro? Always start you own thread with YOUR problem! EXACT Error Message? As cd points out what is your Exact Software? Far too many people are running on this on Parallels to try to pin the blame on that software Edit: once he tells us what software he actually has, we will split it off and place it in the right forum. TWearing
i apologize for hijacking the post, i got excited when i saw macbook, and even more excited when i saw Jim talking about parallels. To answer your questions: I'm running Parallels 9 or 10, whichever lets you run windows 7. i'm running windows 7 ultimate 32 bit software installed is Roxio GameCapture(not the HD one, which would have made my life much easier) the update i'm referring to is the one found if you follow support > software updates > gamecapture(also, not hd). file downloaded is gamecapturesp1.exe. the EXACT error message reads "unknown capture error." no amplifying data of any kind, i'm sorry. also, i had initially tested this on my cable box, since i couldn't find my breakout cable for the xbox. the software worked beautifully, except for the inability to capture, which i figured might have been due to the cable box or whatever(anti-piracy or whatnot). the picture was crisp and clear, fps was good, audio was clear. when i hooked up my daughter's xbox to the capture box, the picture(on the software) is all screwed up, lags, no audio, but i now have the option to capture. however, when i click the capture button, it seems like it's going to capture, software says capturing, but nothing happens. let it run for about 10 minutes before i stopped capturing, but no video saved, screen on the software didn't even update. once again, i apologize for hijacking, i just wanted someone who knew about macs and parallels to comment, since i'm not sure how often these forums are visited(i've seen some go without views or replies for years). grandpabruce
Both of you MAC users should use your MACS for what they were intended for. The Roxio software, in this case, was not intended to be used on a MAC, unfortunately. If you want to use this software, get a PC to use for this purpose. MACs are little more than a PC running a different BIOS and OS these days and Parallels allow them to become an 'almost' fully functional PC However you and cd are right, TWearing did hijack the Topic - since he did install the software on his MAC, I am curious if he can tell Kazpurrutz and all of us HOW he got the Install CD to work??? (guessing it behaves as designed under Parallels?)
Kazpurrulz
I bought the Roxio game capture HD pro software to install in my Macbook and use it. Now after loading the CD I am not able to find the installer file to startup the setup it just shows the Roxio icon in the Macbook desktop and when I double-click it open up the files which are inside the CD. What should I do to install it completely and then work in my Macbook?
TWearing
My MacBook recognizes that the cd is the Roxie game cap software, but won't install on the Mac OS. Thus the reason I had to use parallels, and you're right that it behaves as designed. Except for all the problems I'm having, which sucks, because this is all my daughter wanted for christmas(other than a pug), so she can be the next Pewdiepie(YouTube vlogger). A good idea to research the system requirements before buying software. Mac OS specific Roxio software.
Jim_Hardin
Your post is irrelevant ~ read the specs of Parallels - it IS a PC when using it and meets all the specs... Many other MAC users are running Roxio Hardware/Software with it - Here & Here NOW, the unknown capture error has been vague and elusive... Tell us, in detail, how you are hooked up and to What? You may want to do a proper repair and SKIP the SP1 update. First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc. Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished. Now insert your Roxio Disc. Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows) When you reach the screen where Repair is offered, choose that! When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.
cdanteek
Your post is irrelevant If it wasn't relevant the OP would of not tried to install the RGC Software on the Mac OS! My MacBook recognizes that the cd is the Roxie game cap software, but won't install on the Mac OS. Thus the reason I had to use parallels, and you're right that it behaves as designed. Jim_Hardin
??? Roxio only has a very limited number of products that work on the MAC OS... HERE they are and this is not one of them. Now some have been able to run when a MAC is using Parallels. What product do you actually have (proper name from the CD or Box)? Do you have Parallels?
