Can't Capture Video From My Canon Legria Hf R506

BeakerPVS

Question

Easy CD and DVD Burning (in Red Box): Ver 14.0.49.2; 5.0.0.0.

This software was bought as an Xmas present so I can't get a refund.

It does not recognise the MTS files I have copied from my Canon Legria HF R506.

So I connect my Canon Legria HF R506 via USB to my Computer & set it to Play,

I start Easy CD & DVD Burning,

I Click on Capture Video

All that happens on the next screen is a video button (blue) but no devices are shown in the dropdown box.

Is this software as useless as these forums seem to suggest?

What am I doing wrong?

Why are you trying to capture? All the videos should be on the SD card and can be dowloaded as video files using Windows Explorer.

An answer like this is just an excuse for the software's failure and does not help.

I am trying to capture because the software is suposed to do it.

I chose this software because it claimed to capture from camcorder and save me having to download the files as video to Windows Explorer.

I have already transfered the files from the SD card to Explorer that but Easy CD and DVD Burning (in Red Box): Ver 14.0.49.2; 5.0.0.0.

does not recognise their MTS format..

Have I now got to convert them all to a format that is recognised as suggested by others?

but why should I have to when the software is suposed to capture from Camcorder.

Just another example of how bad this software is

The reason you would want to simply copy the files to your HD rather than capture them, is to maintain quality. If you're doing a "capture" that usually involves an analog conversion or two, and you'll lose quality. It's also faster to copy the files, then a real-time (1 hour of video takes 1 hour to capture) capture process.

Can you upload a small segment to a sharing site from your video camera in .MTS format and post a link so we can download it to check it out too?

This is strictly a user error from someone who is too lazy to learn how to use the software... All software works the way it was written and not the way YOU think it should ;)

You have a nice HD Camcorder but the software is for DVD's and even if you use the correct Program within the Suite (Create DVD's) it isn't going to accept your HD files...

Your complaint is then with the individual who bought you the wrong software.
