Crashes When 'record' Is Clicked

Question

Recently bought and software is installed. The application starts up and hooked up to VHS player seems to be working with preview video shown and playing, but however my computer basically crashes with my screen saying 'cable not connected' and keyboard also freezes (proven with 'lock checks') when I click to record the tape. Worth noting is that it crashed on a 2nd try without record being clicked, but just the cord being connected after a few mins.

*Using Plus on a Vista.

Open up your Device Manager (Win-Pause upper left corner)

With the device plugged in, do you see Any Alerts in there?

No 'alerts' found there.

Yes there is!

And while I don't think it is related, HERE is some discussion that ;)

Perhaps this is a good place to do a proper repair:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your Roxio Capture Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.
