Videowave

Question

Not sure what group discussion to go to for this question. I have made a videowave production. It includes about 40 short clips. When I play the dvd, it plays as one video even though there are transitions between each clip. I'm trying to figure out how to do something between each clip so that when I play the dvd I can click forward to the next clip - kind of like clicking forward on a cd to the next track. Is this possible? Thank you for any help.

You need to create a disc with "Chapters" and perhaps even "movies". You will need several sub-menu pages. The first chapter will finish and you will be taken back to the sub-menu to select the next chapter.

or

just use the controls on your player>!

Look at this old post; it will be helpful because the major parts of Video Wave/MyDVD are still the same. Come back if you need more information or help once you have reviewed thew information.

Printed the post from January 2010 & I'm also refering to Roxio Creator 2010 User Guide, as I used that edition previously. I select Video Movies on main menu. Go to Edit Video Advanced. Go to New Production. Go to Media Selection. Go to Folder View (with My Documents in the box to the right of folder view as this is where I select the clips I want for my video). Right click on the clip. Go to Scene Detection. Select Add Scene. Then I manually select the start & stop point (I think I'm doing that correctly. Can see but one way to do it). Select OK. Then I get a window that says: Video Wave has stopped working. Check online for a solution & close or Close the program. When I X out of that window it takes me back to main menu and when I go back to Edit Video Advanced, whatever I did previously is gone. I was making this DVD for my Mom's birthday, which at the time I started this project, was 2 months away. LOL. Still trying. Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

Even if that did work, where do you think you are going from there? (VideoWave)

My thinking is that "Chapters" can only be 'made' in MyDVD and if you add transition in VW you still just have one big contiguous clip!

You Can set Markers in VW and then convert them into Chapters within MyDVD. This is handy when you are editing in VW and realize that you would like a Chapter at that point!

Possible drawback is the you have to Save the VW Project (dmsm) and add that Project into MyDVD...

To Learn these functions I create simple projects, using a still picture or 2 to represent a 'movie clip'. Keep Notes then burn a test DVD to make sure it works like I wanted.

Where is the "project view area". The help within the software & the Roxio Creator 2010 User Guide both say the exact same thing about marking chapters. It says select the movie in the Project View area, then, in the Edit area, choose Edit Chapters. I have looked everywhere I know to look for a screen, window, box, anything that says Project View. This is very frustrating. But thanks for any help.

Are you running myDVD? The project view area is the bottom panel in the Menu Tasks on the left

Thank you all for your help. Didn't realize I had to go to "output" & "go to my dvd" to get to the point of project view. The DVD is finished for my Mom's 87th birthday. Thanks for all your help. I have made a cheat sheet for future use. :)
