Cd Key/serial Number Not Accepted -Can't Type

Trying to install the XP version on an XP machine. When it gets to the dialog box with Name, Organization and Serial Number, it gets stuck. I can type a name and organization just fine, but typing in the 4 boxes for the serial number doesn't do anything. You literally cannot type anything. You can use the mouse to put the cursor in any of the 4 boxes, but you can't type.

 

I do have the installation CD in and the USB dongle plugged in. Any help/suggestions?

What is the "XP version"???

 

Reboot your PC and try it with the numbers above the keyboard as well as the numeric keypad.

 

If it asks to check for updates during the install, do so.

Thanks Jim. Sorry, actually on the front of the booklet it actually says Vista and XP. So probably made before Windows7.

Yes, rebooting the computer solved the problem. Not sure why. Thanks again Jim. The XP is the last version issued, I believe SP3.
