Backed Up But Have No Dvd Recovery As No Roxio

Buddypup

Question

I had a dying laptop and backed up my critical data to a handy SATA drive. Repaired the laptop, reinstalled W7 and working well BUT I cant recover my backed up data. My Roxio was downloaded

and I cant recover it from saved files. Everything on SATA says it is wrong version to run on my laptop (but it ran OK before). I assume this is something Roxio added to saved files. How can I get a copy of Roxio and Backup/Restore? I have my purchase number and key.

To: Digital Guru,

I moved the download from "Downloads" to "C: Roxio" so I could find it later. Then used Roxio to back up "C:" drive to SATA disk via USB. I have Roxio saved on the SATA but when I try to execute either the complete downloaded application or the "setup" file, I get an error message stating:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running. Check your computer system information to see wether you need an x86 (32 bit) or x64(64 bit) version of the program and then contact the software publisher."

I downloaded the x64 version and ran it on my 64 bit version of Windows 7. I am not that famaliar with Roxio Backup so I guess I saved my copy of Roxio in a format that must be read by Roxio Restore. As a recent buyer (1 March), I need to get a redownload as I have the key.

I'll order a CD next time.

Also, where should I have posted this question?

Thanks much for your help.

I have tried to download the software and the download crashed 6 (six) times. There is NO support. Every support access is blocked except the one that wants $25 for one time service. Unless I get some IMMEDIATE help I intend to turn this over to the state attorney generals office for appropriate legal action.

First unless "rox" is part of a user name here no one is a Roxio Employee...

Next, this is NOT a Roxo Support Forum but rather a collection of fellow users who are under no obligation to help you...

Finally, here is how threats work. Once you make one, everything will be zipped up and you can expect no responses as it all goes to legal to await contact and resolution... (last one I did like that took over a year and was not to my satisfaction) But none of us will take those actions, that is up to a Roxio Moderator...

It would appear, you didn't really answer what I asked, that your download file is corrupt. The error message is pretty much generic and is often seen with corrupt files or attempts to open a file that it cannot figure out what to do with.

If you want to pursue a legal avenue, then we are done!

If you want to try some other things, I would be happy to point out this Topic to a Moderator.

Let me know -_-

Remember, we're users like you, so threatening Roxio doesn't do anything to us. I understand you're frustrated, but we can only help you when we get enough information to understand the exact problem. We're trying to help on our own time. So help us help you. Tell us what steps you used to create your backup. What part of the Roxio Suite did you use? What version of Windows were you running on then?

What version/edition of Windows are you running on now.

What backup files do you have? How many? What size? What is the file type?

If you can tell us your order number for your purchase product or any proof of purchase for the exact Roxio product that you are pertaining to, then I may be able to help you get back the Roxio software that you are looking for.
