ogdens
so when the tape is in the play mode and the ff button is pressed you can see the pic in fast forward, but when play button is pressed alone,it is nothing but audio and snow for video Does the same thing happen when you have the player connected directly to the TV, no Roxio connections, nothing plugged into the S-video jack. sknis
I see ne firmware for that combination DVD/Tape player/recorder. You should try to install the update as it may fix some of the issues. It is here (link) -- follow the directions carefully.

d_deweywright
Your player automatically sets the tracking when you first insert the tape and start playback. So, if you haven't try ejecting the tape and re-inserting it to have it re-do the tracking adjustment. Our player does the same thing, and on occasion, I've done that if tracking isn't right when I first put the tape in.

d_deweywright
I also hope you've tried some different tapes. If not, please do. You could indeed have one where the tape has degraded and the player is having trouble setting the tracking, and another may work fine, which will at least let you prove your setup works when it has a good tape. d_deweywright
Hi Richard. You've given us no clue as to what Roxio program or hardware you may have that you're trying to make work. Let us know what program you have, and some information about your computer (processor type and speed, amount of installed memory, free hard disk space, Windows version), and the hardware your using (VCR make and model), then maybe we can come up with some suggestions for you. d_deweywright
Are you using the composite cables (Red, White, Yellow) or the SVHS connector? Also, we're assuming that if you connect to your TV, you get a good signal, is that true?

d_deweywright
Okay, so the first thing to do is to go back and reconnect it to the TV to make sure you're getting a good picture from the VCR. That's really the best test you've got, because if you're not getting a good picture there, you won't get anything better on the capture device. Next, you need to use either the Composite (Yellow, red, white) cables, OR the SVHS connector. One or the other, not both, and then, when you start the capture application, I believe you have the option to select which input connection your using. If you only had the red/white audio cables connected, and not the yellow video connection, and you had the composite input selected, you would indeed, only get audio, and no video, just as you're seeing. You can try simply selecting the SVHS input, and see if that fixes your problem. What model number is your LG VHS player?
