Question

Hello,

I just purchased the downloadable Roxio NXT 3 and installed it on my Windows 8.1 computer. When I try to use it I get the pop-up that says:

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable... Enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Roxio Creator XT 3.msi' in the box below.

How can I overcome this problem?

Thanks.

Digital Guru,

Thanks for the suggestion, but it found nothing wrong with the installation. In fact, the installation went smoothly. I even tried using the "Repair" option to see whether it would fix it but it didn't help. It's almost like the installation script is assuming the installation was done from a DVD and it's looking for the DVD to install additional software but can't find the DVD.

Any other suggestions?

I should have added that I can mostly run the program. This pop-up window shows up every few minutes and I hit "Cancel" a few times until it's gone - for a few more minutes. I managed to create a DVD from movie clips I made from a trip, with slide show, background music, etc. In short, the program seems to work - except that it believes it need to install more software that it cannot find.

If you have Winzip or equivalent, you should be able to extract the folders and files from the RoxioNXT3 installation .exe file (copy it onto your hard drive in some convenient place. You will see a number of folders. One of those will contain that .msi file. When you get that message enter the path.to it. That should fix whatever it is looking for.

(also: if you have not emptied your temp folder, since installing RoxioNXT3, the extracted files could still be there).

Sorry for the guru drift:

Oh my! Jean, it is good to see you post again. It has been a few years, I think, since the last time that you posted. I hope that all is well.

Very kind of you to welcome me back. My reason for not posting for some time was that I was faling further and further behind, still with Windows XP and Creator 2012, so could not really help much with current versions and issues. However I am now getting a new PC (Windowws 7, with free upgrade to 10 in due course. and came here to see whether NXT3 was OK. Rather frustratingly, the PC was supposed to have been delivered 10 days ago, but the carriers seem unable to find my house. Can't communicate with them directly, only via 'customer care' in India, so it takes at least 48 hours for any message to get through the chain. I hope maybe tomorrow...
