Replacing Adaptec Easy Cd Creator 3.5C

It is my first time at a Roxio Forum. I want to ask a very stupid question, for that, I don't want receive some hard reprimand from somebody. I have spent many, many months looking for replacing my old and loved Easy CD Creator 3.5 but I had not able. Up three months ago, I was using it on my XP computer with no problems, but now, I went to a new computer with Windows 8.1 and my original CD with my 3.5 program was not recognized for the CD unit.

From my old program I like very much the easy way to design and make Jewel Cases and Inserts. One can take the list of tracks of the CD from the folder where they are filed in the computer, one can insert Word files, images from many kinds, use many colors, characters and letter styles an so on. I have tried many programs looking for this features by I cant find someone. Most today programs take the tracks list from the CD, but many of my discs are self made from several sources and programs doesn't take the names. Definitively, I don'w want to retype my information.

Somebody knows if Creator 4 or 5 have a similar feature? I know that my old files .cl3 files will not be read, but it is a minor problem for me. Somebody knows about another program (not from Roxio) similar to my old program?

Indeed, I want you help me to solve this issue. Thank you very much in advance for your answers.

Unfortunately, for Window 8.1, I believe you have to go to at least Creator NXT. Easy CD Creator 4 or 5 won't run, nor Easy Media Creator 6, nor 7... You were lucky to have 3.5 running on XP. The current version is Creator NXT3.

Current versions do have a label creator, but I've gone to separate page layout programs with my own templates for printing covers, and for the discs themselves, I buy the inkjet printable discs, and print on them directly, using the utilities that come with the printer.

Hello Gegar14,

It's not a stupid question, and you don't need to worry about reprimands. The grumpy users who bite people's heads off don't often come down to these forums.

You will be very lucky if you find a disc label program which stores track names in clear text like the old label programs used to do. I don't know of any myself.

The older programs used a free CD Database called CDDB, and could store track names in plain text, but a commercial company purchased the CDDB and forced programs using it to encrypt track lists stored on the hard drive.

This is why the label programs in Easy CD Creator 4 and 5 (and later) don't have plain text lists you can use and edit.

Sorry, but I think that whatever label program you get for your Windows 8.1, you are likely to have to retype your information on your home-made compilation CDs.

I still prefer to use ECDC 4 and 5 on my XP and Windows 7 machines for CD case labels and booklets, so I don't know enough about non-Roxio label programs to recommend one for you.

Regards,

Brendon
