Emc 9 Music Disc Creator Projects In Nxt 3?

bullitt

Question

I've been using Music Disc Creator contained in Easy Media Creator 9 for about 10 years and avoided upgrading because previous upgrades were not backward compatible with my older projects. Do any of the current program suites contain Music Disc Creator and continue to work with my existing projects, in other words all my DMSA files? I'm replacing my existing iMac with a new one and want to move from XP to Windows 7 or 8.1 and use Bootcamp or Parallel.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply, If I purchase EMC 9 will it work within Windows 8.1 also? I do not need anything but Music Disc Creator and Label Creator so this would be great solution. I have all projects and source files on external drives so that should not be a problem. Another question is does new version of Toast 14 use a Music Disc Creator that's similar to EMC 9?

-You can't purchase EMC 9 now, unless you find someone on eBay who's willing to part with a pre-loved copy.

I believed from your first post that you HAD EMC 9 and wanted to KEEP using it, else I wouldn't have done all that work on it.

-I don't know if EMC 9 would work under Windows 8.1, or even if you could install it.

I avoid Windows 8.1, and think Microsoft should avoid it too.

-I don't know anything about Mac software. You would need to ask in a Mac forum.

Hello Bullitt,

I just went and tried opening a saved EMC 9 .DMSA project file in NXT Pro 3's Music Disc Creator. It worked fine, and burned an audio CD identical to the one I burned under EMC 9 a few minutes before.

Note: since the project file holds the addresses for the music files and not the music itself, you need to have your source files available at the same address as they were on your XP machine when you saved the project.

However: If you're moving to Windows 7, why bother? Why not run EMC 9 under Windows 7? (*)

I have the old EMC 9.0.6 running happily under Windows 7 Ultimate, and this project also worked fine there.

Regards,

Brendon

* [You just uninstall Drag to Disc, and ignore a script error at startup, and EMC 9 works fine under Windows 7]
