Vhs To Dvd 3 Plus Upgrade Does Not Work

Approachcontrol

Question

The software was working fine after the first installation. I purchased the upgrade, order number 1045189634. When the upgrade installed, I received a message that the newer version that was already installed would have to be removed so the upgrade could be installed with the older version. The upgrade seemed to install without a problem but now it is unable to see the video. No changes have been made to any of the hardware hookups.

I checked to see if updates were available for the upgraded software and the answer was no.

I am running Windows 7, 64B

All three USB drivers are reported as functioning normally and they are as follows:

Video Capture USB, 7/12/2013

Sound 6.1.7601.18208

Video Capture USB, 9/29/2011

5.2011.929.0

USB Composite Device, 6/21/2006

6.1.7601.18328

Why can't the software see the video?

Never had the 'upgrade' so I am not really sure what the install looks like.

Since you did not provide any of the Version or Build numbers it is shooting in the dark as there have been - there are 4 versions and various updates and levels within them.

Look HERE to sort it out ;)

I assume you still have your original disc? And you have your 'upgrade' as a disc or download?

If you meet both of those requirements then I suggest you frist remove the USB Device and put it in another room!

Then uninstall the EVD software and reboot.

Lastly install the 'upgrade' (I am hoping it will without needing the original installed first)

Let us know.

As you suggested, I removed all three drivers and then the software. I then reloaded the software from the upgrade download and it was, as you suggested, a full program with a build number of 301B37A ENU.

Still no joy - cannot see the video. All drivers are the same as before and all are reported to be working properly.

From what version did you upgrade? What newer version? What older version? It is difficult to understand what you did.

Two ways to go from here...

First is to look around a bit more. In your Device Manager with the device plugged in - you must have two entries and NO errors/warnings!!!

Like this:

Next, What are you hooked up to?

How?

Can you try different USB Ports and/or different hook up or device?

The Second thing to try is another uninstall and put the older software back on. (btw - Do NOT remove the drivers yourself, the uninstaller will do that ;) )

With some effort. I was able to uninstall the upgrade and to reinstall the original software which is able to see the video stream from my VHS. This "original" version is 301B83A ENU.

The upgrade version is 301B37A ENU and is unable to "see" my video stream.

any ideas?

Walt, I had asked for the Build Numbers ^_^

But the program name would help too as the only build numbers I have are for the Plus versions...

I am guessing that he had EVD 3 Standard and upgraded to Plus???

But as you noted, he is only partially responding with answers and I am pretty much done unless that changes -_-

No, I have the version named Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3 Plus with the number 301B83A ENU. And, as I also said before, the upgrade went to 301B37A ENU.

However, if it makes more sense, the upgrade could have been 301B87A ENU. I will not load the upgrade again because it cannot "see" my video stream and it lead to a crash of my computer.

By the way, the manual, on page 11, states that the upgrade should provide the following additional features:

Video noise reduction

Basic and advanced video stabilization

Basic and advanced color correction

Transitions and rolling credits

Split movies too big to fit on one DVD

Of course, all of these nifty features are moot if the software cannot "see" the video stream to edit.
