I Can't Open Music Disc Creator - Split From Non-Related, Dead Thread

SpinDocWes

Question

I am unable to engage MUSIC DISC CREATOR module in any way. All other features seem to be working.

I use Vista Ultimate. The program used to work, then stopped. I decided to reload the entire Vista system, this time one of the first things I loaded into the system was the Roxio NXT3 program. When first in, the Music Disc Creator worked. I continued to load the rest of my usual programs including Corel Video Studio 7, but no other CD burning programs, and now the Roxio main menu wont open Music Disc Creator.

I tried disabling other programs in MSCONFIG, no help. Tried "repair install" no help.

Is there any fix to allow the Music Disc Creator Module to function, or a way to find out what other program or update caused it to not work?

I cannot even get Music Disc Creator to open. Once the selection is clicked, the splash screen for the program appears momentarily then disappears and the program never starts. What can I do? Have done "repair", tried remove and reinstall, then from Start menu. Nothing works. I run Vista Ultimate. I reinstalled the OS, then NXT3Pro and it worked just after installing. Since then other programs and updates went into the system, and Roxio Music Disc Creator wont Start. Any thoughts?

I posted a thread in Roxio Creator 2009 with same problem- http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/117874-music-disc-creator-wont-open-properly/

Initially out of the blue on Windows Vista I got the problem you have with just splash screen and no start etc. Music Disc Creator had been working fine for years. All other components of Roxio work fine.

Did clean install of Roxio, this time a different error that Music Disc Creator can't find file. I did a sys file check, and disc check and repair on Vista- didn't help. I'm getting afraid that one of the Windows Updates for Vista may have a conflict for some reason.

I use Music Disc Creator the most and there is no other program like it. I don't know if others on newer OS's are having trouble. With NXT 3 I don't know if Roxio support would do any good.

Maybe one of the good souls on this forum might have some ideas.

This forum is useless, more and more people with the same issue but no answers or fixes are ever posted. I sent this post to tech support at Roxio. They didn't reply or post a fix. Instead they just added my problem to a list of others with the same problem. This company sucks. They take your money and things don work . It's theft! Cyber theft!

Looks like one of the Mod's put your scattered rants together into one Topic...

Do you want to work on this and resolve it or just post your slanderous lies? Generally speaking, no one from Roxio looks at these forums but experanced users here are willing to help if you can get past yourself -_-

I definitely want to work on this as I posted same issue in Creator 2009 section-

My concern after reading first post here is that this may be a Windows Vista issue from possibly recent Windows Updates as Music Disc Creator had been working fine until recently, and Clean Install and all other suggestions throughout this forum were followed.

I was almost ready to upgrade to NXT 3 in hopes that Music Disc Creator would work until I read the first post here.

Can anyone get Music Disc Creator to open and work on newer OSs like Windows 7. 8 or 10 in any version of Roxio Creator?

Never spend money to try to fix a problem caused by an unknown cause.

Can you open Music Disc Creator from the Vista Start menu?

How recently did the problem occur? You may be able to use Windows Restore to get your computer back to where Music Disc Creator worked and then start updating/upgrading to where it stops. Restore again to just before the added update occurred and don;t install it !

No, can't open from Start Menu, or from within Media Manager or other modules linked with it. I have no idea which Windows updates may have effected the program, and my Restore points only go back for about a month- anyway, since the Windows updates involved security issues, not a good idea to mess with them and trouble shooting back is nearly impossible for more than one month.

Glad to hear Music Disc Creator works in Windows 7 however.

My last option, since a clean install didn't work, is that I have full disc image backup using Acronis from last year when Music Disc Creator was working, and if I can figure out how to restore the program files from there I'll give that a try.
