Music Disc Creator Won't Open Properly

ryorko1@msn.com

Question

Started having trouble suddenly after years of being OK with Music Disc Creator not opening- just a flash of screen then nothing, though it appeared in system tray and Task Manager said it was running. All other components work fine. Exported and deleted registry entries for Music Disc Creator, still didn't work.

Did a clean uninstall using Revo Uninstaller as Roxio tool for Vista no longer available on their website. Now all components seem to be OK but when I attempt to open Music Disc Creator I get a File Not Found box with a list of png files and clicking on OK or Cancel does nothing and I have to close box through Windows Task Manager.

Any help would be appreciated. 2009 has no repair function.

Are you trying to use a networked location? It won't work.

The path would be to your computer hard drive location of the files so there would have to be the drive, the folder, the subfolders, etc. If it was in one place and you moved it, that is why you are getting the error.

I posted this as well in the Roxio Creator 2009 section, but wanted to post it here as it might not be noticed in the older section.

Tried opening Music Disc Creator from within Media Manager, Sound Editor, Windows Start Menu Roxio applications and Roxio Central all with the same results.

Your answer - "The path would be to your computer hard drive location of the files so there would have to be the drive, the folder, the subfolders, etc. If it was in one place and you moved it, that is why you are getting the error."

I have no networked locations, all of Roxio program is on the main C drive and I have not moved the file, Music Disc Creator, and checked in my Program Files that it is there. Could anything else be causing it to not find the right path? I can't access it from the File Not Found box that appears as it only lists picture formats like png, and only Track Art as file type in the browse button on the right.

Thanks for the Vista uninstaller for 2009, I downloaded it for future attemptsas it's no longer on Roxio/Corel site.

Issue is track art are the only files available for selecting a path and choosing any in the AudioCore themes doesn't get the File not Found to respond. The File Not Found box shouldn't come up whan attempting to open Music Disc Creator- and from the File not Found box there is no way to choose the Music Disc Creator file path from the program files in Audio Core as this File not Found box only is allowing Track Art selections and not any other file types.

Anyway, another user posted the same issue and same attempts to fix with clean install with no luck in the NXT 3 area- http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/117800-i-cant-open-music-disc-creator-split-from-non-related-dead-thread/

I almost upgraded from 2009 to NXT 3 to get my often used and beloved Music Disc Creator working, but from the above post it seems there may be an issue with Windows Vista with Music Disc Creator on any version of Roxio, perhaps from recent Microsoft Updates as the program had been working fine for a long time until recently. Again, all other components of Roxio work fine except this.

There is no software on the market that will do what Music Disc Creator does with creating and burning MP3 with folders and tracks in the order they are created that will then playback as created in this program.

Can anyone get Music Disc Creator to open and work on newer OSs like Windows 7. 8 or 10 in any version of Roxio Creator?

I have no problem using Music Disc Creator from C2010, C2012, NXT, NXt2 or NXT3 with Windows 7. It also works fine with NXT 3 on W8

C2010 and C2012 also worked fine with Vista.

Appreciate the info about Music Disc Creator working on various Roxio versions in Windows 7, but when was the last time you used it from C2010 or C2012 on Windows Vista? I'm asking because I'm concerned some recent Windows Updates to Vista may have caused the problem as the program had been working fine for years.
