Restore Issue - Split

I have a problem that is with restoring from my backup too.... I backed up my main hard disk to my external usb 3 disk but when i boot from the bootable cd i made to restore my entire disk it doesn't show my usb drive at all so I can't select the backup I used roxio backontrack that is part of the roxio creater pro 2012 suite to make the backup. I can see the files to do selective restore when running in windows but can restore my hdd back to windows 7 from within windows and if I boot off the cd I can access my external drive. any ideas?

Your question had nothing to do with the year+ old Topic you posted in

 

It appears that your PC BIOS does not recognize USB when booted from a CD or at least that part was not included on the CD you made...

 

You might want to try to make a bootable USB drive (not the same one as your backup) or put on a minimal OS so you can run your Restore.

Depending on the PC, that could be a BIOS setting that can be changed to recognize USB drives "natively." I'd dig through your BIOS settings, and the manual for your motherboard.

Good idea Dave ~ been years since I had one that didn't support USB on boot, I forgot there were some that had the option
