Blu-Ray/hd Burning Not Working With Os X 10.10.5

I don't know if anybody else is experiencing this, but since Aug 22 when Apple released OS X 10.10.5, Toast 14 will not burn blu ray or HD disks. The burned disks freeze, jiggle, and are unwatchable. I have been dealing with tech support for two days and they cannot fix the issue. They said to wait for an update. Nice. I use the program to create blu-ray DVDs for my work, and now I am out of business.

 

If you have Toast of any version, and OS X, do not update to 10.10.5 or you will regret it.

I have 10.10.5 and am able to burn . . . sometimes.

 

Roxio "support" is aware of the issue, and an update is planned. Timeframe was not specified (surprise).

 

However, you might want to try creating an ISO file of your Blu-ray project (I tried it in MyDVD) and then using Toast to burn that ISO.

 

Also, when the burned discs stutter like that, it is usually a bad encode.

Let me add that I've seen the same situation that Ken90068 (above) saw. I'm using an 8 core MacPro with OS 10.10.5 and Toast 14. I'm using downloaded HD movies from the UK formatted in PAL at 25 fps. I'm trying to stitch then into a Blu-Ray. After burning many coasters I have to agree that for some reason starting with movies adjusted to 30 fps seems to work the best. I see minimal (but still present jitter) after running the movies through HandBrake (to output at 30 fps), then using Toast to stitch and burn. I have the perf in Toast set to NTSC with no other major changes. I did try among other things making a straight PAL Blu-Ray. That didn't work —too much jitter. Even the natural NTSC fps (a HandBrake setting for 29.97) was worse than the 30. Who knows why?

 

I have reported this to Roxio.

 

How much jitter do you mean when you say minimal jitter - jitter every 10 mins or so or do you see it every couple of seconds?

 

Also, what are your Handbreak and Toast configurations?

 

 

Encoding, using the following settings in Handbreak and Toast, and seeing no reduction in video quality after encoding in Handbreak, the BDMV file still yields a highly choppy video playback after saving the .mkv file as a Toast disc image:

Tried making an ISO with MyDVD while on the phone with tech support. Another blu-ray coaster for my stack. With Toast 12 the blu-rays were just jerky and would freeze. With Toast 14, multiple blu ray players throw up an error message, "Can't Load Disk."

 

I have also emptied the Roxio Converted Files folder and re-encoded everything. Burns are the same, useless.

I found a "bug" that is causing Toast to not encode or burn blu-ray discs. I tried burning two 1080p HD clips, one source was 30fps, the other 29.97fps. The 30fps burned and played perfectly. The 29.97 clip was skipping frames, freezing. I used Wondershare Video Converter and converted the 29.97 HD clip to 30fps. Voila! Toast burned a perfect blu ray copy.

 

Not sure why this is happening. My HD source videos have always been at 29.97fps and didn't have this problem. Going to be a lot of work to convert weeks of videos to 30fps to work with Toast 14 blu ray.
