No Signal - Either Video Or Audio In Easy Vhs To Dvd3 Plus

Mrsmac_nz

Question

I did have intermittent success before upgrading my copy of Easy VHS to DVD3 Plus, but since upgrading this morning there is absolutely no audio or video input. So far I have uninstalled/reinstalled my software, repaired my software, changed usb connections, turned everything off and started it again. I read the post 'Anything but ease' - have checked the Device Manager and expanded the Sound, video and game controllers - and have two Roxio thingies there.

I have changed to a tape that worked ok yesterday - but nothing today. So now what? Any suggestions would be welcome - pretty please?

No one uses the Record DVD and now you know why. As I recall it spits out the disk when done but the issue is that it may have confused a little tape glitch for end of tape.

Unistall does not completely clear the registry hence the newer code is retained.

Use the Record Edit Save then in there it will have an export where you burn the disk.

Forgot about that... -_- I call it the 1 52 Limit.

Although we reported it, it has never been fixed!

If you shift to DL's it goes away (thanks for that tip, I didn't know that)

Or you can manually split your project...

Start by locating the Project File (xxxx.VHS) - look at the path in these pictures.

The basic process is to manually make 3 projects then use the Trim in each of these to create a Disc 1, 2 and 3.

Mine starts with 'MyProject_2.vhs

post-39730-0-09731400-1442402044_thumb.jpg

(I have already copied and pasted my first copy.

The Project_1.vhs already existed so I delete it to eliminate that confusion, After I realized that ;)

Do another paste:

Then Rename:

After renaming, we open EVD 3 and load the first Project:

Considering the work involved, I would go with the DL solution :D

Some more info for you...

Tape Quality is below DVD Movie at HQ...

IF you reduce the Quality of your DVD, you are reducing the quality of the already low quality!

Stick with HQ for Export and avoid disappointment?

Everything in Video is based on Time! Figure on 1 hour needing a 4.7GB disk & an 8.4GB for 2 hours.

More than that? The Export to DVD in the Plus has a very nice Split feature.

I have managed to capture a video using Easy VHS to DVD3, after a lot of faffing around. I obviously have a lot of learning to do! This is obviously not going to be a commercial venture...

Two issues:

1. I ended up with a 5.3GB file from 1hr 25mins - so had to use a DL DVD instead of the standard version. In Easy VHS to DVD3, Do I need to reduce the quality to get the right size? And how do I know how big the end file will be?

2. The resultant DVD (made in Ashampoo Burning Studio) works ok, but is a bit awkward to get going on my DVD player. I burned data to a disc - perhaps I should have chosen Autostart? What programme do you use to burn your discs? And what settings do you use?

Ah - I have just looked up at your last post and see this - export where you burn the disk. Obviously I should have gone back into Easy VHS to DVD3 to do the burning/making of DVD. Is that what you are saying?

So - some tortuous progress today. :)

I have Roxio going (sort of), but still having problems. I un-installed the programme completely, and then re-installed the original disk. I found that I had Build 301B83A. Then I re-installed the file I downloaded for the upgrade - giving me Build 301B37A (the computer complained that I already had a newer file on my computer). That didn't work. So I then un-installed everything again, and then re-installed the original disk only (this interestingly enough would only accept the NEW Product Key (not the original one).

This worked I thought. I used Record DVD - on the left hand side of Roxio, but while copying the video, the disc drive (with the DVD in it to be burnt) popped out. I presumed it then wanted me to put another disc, so I did. Then at the finish, I find that the first disc has recorded, but the second disc hasn't.

I have not yet heard again from the Roxio techs (now nearly two days since I sent them the asked for information), so I have sent them a fairly terse email and wait, with decreasing confidence in this product and their tech staff. Should I go back to the abacus for my tech requirements (sarcasm intended)?

I appreciate your on-going help.

Apology accepted! And I'm sorry - I over-reacted, perhaps the fact that the anniversary of his death was very recently had something to do with that. There are lot of people of Scottish descent living here - so mrsmac, or mac are common appellations (nothing to do with computers....)!

Yes, I did try another tape (a couple that had worked well the previous day). I was using TDK DVD-R discs - I have always found them good previously. I was using the 'Record DVD' option in Easy VHS to DVD3 (on the left hand side) - so leaving the computer alone while it went through the whole process.

I have also sent a message to the Roxio tech guys - has a reply asking for information and photos - which I sent, but haven't had another reply back yet. Basically asking for set-up details. So - after a calming night's sleep - I am no further ahead. :(

I apologize if I offended you. I saw the MAC part of the name. There is a version of Easy VHS to DVD for the MAC. I was just trying to make sure that the posts were in the right forum.

Did you try another tape? Just FYI, the recommendation is to capture everything to your computer and then burn it to a disc. That separates the capture from the burn so your computer doesn't have to work so hard and also because, if you may be using bad DVD (like Memorex or store brands), which glitch on you, you don't have to start from scratch. Also you can select what goes on each disc.

Note - I said I had intermittent success - in other words, everything was going well, then it stopped. I had changed nothing, except to put a new tape in.

I am using a PC - with Windows 7 Pro as operating system.

The video player works perfectly through the TV - therefore by implication the cables are in the right 'holes' - confirmed by the fact that it did work using Easy VHS to DVD3 on the PC computer with both video and audio input/output previously.

When I said 'upgrade' - I refer to the upgrade of Easy VHS to DVD3 to the Plus version to enable me to be able to record lengthy videos onto several DVDs when the video is too large to put on one 4.7GB disc

.

I'm curious as to know why my screen name raises a flag with you. I was married to a genuine Glaswegian Scotsman with a surname to match (I share that surname) - he died three years ago, and I live in New Zealand. Hence my name.

Your screen name raises and alert flag for me. Are you running the PC version (where you posted) or the MAC version?

Please explain what you mean by upgrading? Please post a screen short of your Device Manager windows that shows the 2 entries for the Roxio device.

The program is not compatible with W 10 if that is what you mean by upgrading.

Same problem : I've installed Easy VHS to DVD3 Plus on on Windpws 7 Pro system, using a Scart connector on the video player. I use the yellow cable for the video connexion, but no image appears on the screen... I have the audio of my tape, but no image.

How to solve this ?... It should be "Easy", no ?

Make sure you have the right kind of SCART connector. There are several and only one works. Search these forums for more information on the connector.

Post a screen shot of the Device Manager that shows the Roxio device. There should be two entries. Did you plug in the device before or after installing the device?
