"edit Song Information" Not In Context Menu

FastBrad

Question

I had a working NXT Pro 3 installed and decided to upgrade to NXT Pro 4. The installation completed without errors, uninstalling the previous version in the process. After restarting, I don't have "Edit Song Information" in the right click context menu that I previously had. I don't want to do an uninstall and reinstall because there are a limited number of activations. Any suggestions how to get that back?

Fastbrad,

Help might be a few days coming, since those who would help you haven't received the new software yet.

While we're waiting, in the previous version that context menu function was provided by DC_ShellExt.dll. You might see if you can locate that DLL and re-register it, if you know how to unregister/reregister DLL files.

Regards,

Brendon

I know this might sound hokey but I have been struggling with this since Roxio 4 came out. Whenever I move to a new computer or upgrade to a newer version of Roxio NXT the "Edit Song Information" does not appear. I have to do this every time but it does work. Now I realize this leaves traces of the program but at least the "Edit Song Information" appears in the context menu when I right click on an MP3.    So here goes:

After installing the latest version and restarting, I find my copy of Roxio NXT 3 and start installing it. I have my task manager open ready to end the task,  I have my folder with MP3's open and I keep right clicking on any MP3 until I see the "Edit Song Information" appear then I quickly end the process of installing Roxio NXT 3 in task manager. I know, I know, not very technical but it works for me but after I do that it stays there and functions. I hope this helps someone else.

I've done in numerous times but I always cancel it very soon after it starts to install. As soon as I see the entry in the context menu I end the task. I have no Idea how many times I have done it. If I had to guess it has been under 10. BTW, My current version is only Roxio NXT 5 Pro.

Thank you for the info.

As soon as you put your CD key into the installer the software 'phones home' and increments your install count.  It doesn't wait until you have successfully completed the install,  so use your installs sparingly.    :)
