Mydvd Does Not Give An Option For 3D

Trouble86

Question

According to the documents, there is supposed to be a 2D / 3D option when beginning a session to create a DVD, but there is no option there. I had purchased MyDVD before buying the entire NXT4 suite...can someone please tell me how to get this corrected? I really want to make 3D home movies of my daughters for their grandparents for Christmas and need to get started.

When you open myDVD, do you get a message about 3D and capability of your computer? What video card do you have and did you have your emitter (if applicable) when you installed the drivers for that card?

You can do 3D with Video Wave but I don't see anything about 3D in the help files for MyDVD.

What documents did you see that says 3D in MyDVD. Please post a link.

Perhaps you can find an earlier version of MyDVD; that did do 3D.

I can do the 3d version using videowave, but it takes forever and is not really the way that I was hoping to be able to do it.

This is in the help files for MyDVD...

As I suspected, that is a tutorial for the "old" version of MyDVD. That does not work in NXT 4 which is where you posted and I assumed that you had. Do you have the current version of MyDVD or something earlier?

3d home creation never caught on and that is why it is disappearing and support is very low. Roxio has decided to remove the rendering process from myDVD and use Videowave for that. This is actually the process some of us prefer for creating DVDs.

It is the new version...so the new version just uses the old version "help"? That isn't very helpful. And why would a company remove funtionality that some might find useful? I can't be the only one that is trying to create 3d movies from 2d...I dont expect them to be perfect, but my dad just got a tv that has the 3D function and thought it would be a good gift to be able to send him movies of his grand daughters growing up in 3D...well, I will just go with the (extremely slow) VideoWave...

I appreciate your comments and help verifying this isn't something I did wrong in loading the program...the functions are just no longer available.

Thank you again!

The company was "acquired" by Sonic a number of years ago, and has changed hands several times since. It is currently part of the Corel stable.

The Sonic management started a process of "simplifying" the software by dropping the solid Roxio programs which were at times complex but always gave you a lot of control, and replacing them with simple Sonic modules in a menuing "Home" application. This simplification continues today, and it's always interesting to see what's been dropped when the latest version appears.

Unfortunately, over the past few years PDF manuals have been discontinued, and even the on-line help systems don't always reflect the changes which have been made. It has got a lot harder to access support, or even to contact the Company.

Market trends I guess, but while we have to live with them we don't have to like them. :(

The rendering to 3D would be just as slow in the old myDVD since it used the same rendering engine.. You can still create the 3D movies, all that has changed is that it is now a 2 step process. (Which as I said, many of us prefer since it is more reliable and results in fewer coasters)

Since most newer TV now are able to accept USB sticks and other input devces, DVDs and BDs will be slowly disappearing. Have you noticed that more and more Laptops no longer have any builin burners?

Walt : You are correct; I misread that.

Trouble 86, Did the installation of NXT 4 remove your old version of MyDVD? Please clarify.

If you still have the old version of MyDVD? Apparently you are able to make 3D files now. If it is slow, nothing will make it faster except a faster computer. Please provide the dxdiag.exe evaluation (link) of your computer so we can see what is going on.

Trouble86. I have been thinking about this thread. Finds out if that 3D TV has the ability to convert from 2D to 3D on the fly. I think some of them do. I have a 3D projector and can,, using a player program, display 3D from a 2D video file.
