Audio, But No Video Signal From Capture Card

Mr_Brown

Question

Hello, I purchased the VHS to DVD system and I am trying to get the capture card to work. Here are the facts:

  • I'm working with a 32-bit Windows 7 PC
  • I have done a repair install after it didn't work at first
  • The PC recognizes the capture card
  • I've got the VCR hooked up to the capture card via an AV cable (red/white/yellow)
  • The capture card is able to capture the audio just fine, but no video signal is there. I have tested this with additional 3rd-party video capture softwares aside from the software Roxio included, but the same problem occurs. I hear the sound from the video being played through my computer's speakers but the video screen is blank.

Can anybody help me figure out why the capture card is not receiving a video signal? I have also tested with additional electronics that have AV output, such as a Nintendo Gamecube, and the same problem occurs, so it's not strictly a VCR problem. What should I try next to get the capture card working?

Your using Easy VHS to DVD old software?

With the capture device plugged into a USB port open device manager expand sound video and game controllers and other devices if you show that entry. Take a screen capture of device manager as a .jpg and attach it in a reply post.

Yes. The box says "Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3" but the software enclosed is the normal version, not the plus version. It offered to upgrade to plus for $20 but I opted out of that.

This is a screencap of my device manager. As I said, it detects the presence of the USB capture card and the card will capture audio, but not video

You have the correct drivers installed.

Try hooking a DVD player up to the USB device and tell us if you duplicate the problem or it corrects it please?

This bothers me points to a PC problem.

Tried that. Duplicates the problem. I'm curious, what makes you think it's a problem with the PC? Is it possible that there is a problem with the capture card itself?

I read your post wrong I thought you used other capture hardware and software duplicating the problem.

Using other Capture Software with Roxio USB Device probably won't work.

Your device could be bad its rare.

No one here could help you with that you need to contact Roxio Technical Support, http://corel.force.com/roxio/rSelectProduct?lang=en_US
