Could Not Create Renderer Object

Dave777

Question

I have used Roxio Creator 2011 pro since it came out in 2011. I bought a new computer a year and half ago...but Roxio has worked on this one in the past. I currently have Windows 7 pro, XPS 8700, Intel Core i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60 Ghz, 16 GB RAM, and 64 bit operating system. I have Directx 11. (I also tried installing Directx 9c since I read in a few places that Roxio Creator works better with 9c.) I believe I installed it correctly.

I have made many vacation videos on the Roxio Creator in the past. With the video clips, I have also added pictures with music and of course text and transitions. My current storyline looks awesome. I then clicked on "Export as", MPEG 2- for DVD Best Quality...and clicked on Create Video File.

I have 7 pictures with music to start the storyboard and then the video clips are there.

Every time I "create Video File" either nothing works or it stops the rendering in between the 7th picture and the start of the video. That occurs at the 28 second mark. The whole video will be 32:48.04. I have made longer videos in the past, but it just doesn't work with this one.

This error message pops up "Could not create the renderer object. This might be caused by directx9.0 not being installed on or the display adapter not fully supporting DirectX 9.0."

My storyboard is done, but I can't seem to create a video file. I am hoping someone would be able to help.

I you created projects successfully before on this PC with C2011 something in your project files must be causing your current problem!

We can't poke your files with a stick so you have to add subtract files until you find the problem.

By the way My Canon FS 300 Camcorder produces a Movie Clip File (.MOD) Of course for editing, I need to convert them to AVI files. I originally imported the .MOD files to the Roxio Timeline and exported them to "Generic AVI, Large Size" which is the best quality I could get. I have been using those AVI files for editing. I know they are large, but they have worked in the past. From the storyboard, I am going to MPEG 2- for DVD Best Quality. It just seems like the pictures with music are the problem, but I don't know. I want everything used in the final product.

There really is no point in converting the mod files to avi if Roxio will accept them. You are doing an extra rendering step which is not necessary and will only reduce quality. If you have to do any conversion, why not convert directly to mpg, best quality since that is what the DVD will require anyway.

Here is a question: As I said above, using Roxio Creator 2011 pro my storyline works perfectly as I play it. I just can't render it. I deleted some pictures and videos and I am having so many problems rendering. If I bought a newer Roxio editing program (or any other new editing program) would I be able to add my finished storyline to the new program and render it there? I am thinking a newer, more powerful program may work better.

NO, newer Creator versions do not accept projects from previous versions.

Also, C2011 will work with mpg files just fine. There is no need to convert to avi - it is a wasted step and time - go directly to mpg.

A more powerful computer will not help - I have a much slower, lower powered computer then you and I have no problem rendering.

There is something in your project or some corruption in your system that is causing your problem

I can delete the picture, but it still wouldn't render. Sometimes it is even stopping at the first picture and won't render at all. (Before it would stop at the 7th and final picture before the video.) Do the pictures have to take up the whole screen? I cropped a few pictures and some of them are in "letter box" format. I don't think that should matter though. I wonder if Roxio Creator 2011 Pro isn't powerful enough for all that I am doing now? I am adding pictures, videos, and music to many pictures. I just don't know. I can still play the entire storyboard. I just can't render it. It keeps going back to saying "Could not create the renderer object. This might be caused by directx9.0 not being installed on or the display adapter not fully supporting DirectX 9.0."It is really frustrating.
