Nick Baer
I hope this is the same as the "My DVD" software that came with my Toast 14 yesterday. I took some AVCHD files, used Toast 14 to make them NTSC .movs (29.97, 640x480 about as generic as Toast can do). Dropped a .mov into MyDVD, and got the "Unacceptable File Type" error. Useless, because the warning box doesn't say "why"!! What do you guys do?
0 bimicher
Why go to a non-DVD format (mov)? The DVD stabdard is 720x480
0 Nick Baer
Well, if there had been a drop-down option for 720x480... but since there wasn't, it's 640x480 Letterbox, which equates to 720x480.
0 Nick Baer
I just re-tried with iMovie (AVCHD clips in iMovie)... output .mov 640x480 Letterbox (720x480) and MyDVD liked it. Difference: iMovie with Audio track vs Toast with Audio unchecked. I also did an iMovie with no Audio , which also got the Unacceptable File Type in MyDVD. 0 theoldarchiver
I hope this is the same as the "My DVD" software that came with my Toast 14 yesterday. No, not exactly. Toast DVD (this sub-forum) is about a derivative version of Toast that one can buy in the Apple App Store. [Press release] I took some AVCHD files, used Toast 14 to make them NTSC .movs (29.97, 640x480 about as generic as Toast can do). Dropped a .mov into MyDVD, and got the "Unacceptable File Type" error. Useless, because the warning box doesn't say "why"!! What do you guys do? You should be able to make a DVD from your AVCHD files directly, without needing an intermediate format.
0 Nick Baer
I don't know how to retire this thread, since there's the other thread that others started...
0 Nick Baer
Thanks, theoldarchiver - My situation is that I don't do Nat Sound with the audio from the Clips. So I had unchecked "audio". I'll have to study further if I can substitute audio. Is there a new Sub Forum for "MyDVD" that came with Toast 14 yesterday! THANKS!!
