Can't Burn Dvds

Question

I am on a late 2015 iMac with and SSD Drive and 32 gb ram. I am using Toast 11. It will not burn a DVD but instead give me an Interface error 5, "The connection is not stable" message error. It was followed by a "The Drive reported an Error: Sense Key = Unit Attention, Sense Code= 29, Power on, Reset, or bus device reset occurred.

How can I fix this?

Check the connections on the drive.

Shutdown all running programs reboot the PC and try it again.

Try different DVD media.

Any other software to test the drive with?

As the 2015 iMac does not come with an internal optical drive, do clue us in on what external optical drive you are using (Apple USB SuperDrive or third party), what connection (USB/FireWire/Thunderbolt). Did you try connecting to an alternative port on the computer (e.g. one of the other USB ports)?

It can be the drive, the enclosure, the connection, or the ports. The error suggests to me that perhaps power was interrupted, which is an indication to check the hardware.
