Roxio Creator Nxt Pro 4 Copy And Convert Video Freezes

Johnny D.

Question

Hi Guru: I have upgraded to Roxio creator nxt pro 4. When I try to open copy and convert videos, it freezes and will not open. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it three times, but I get the same result. Any suggestions on how to fix this? My operating system is Windows 10 pro.

THanks,

Johnny D.

Jim, I tried the repair you suggested. It did not work. The burn disc image does not open either. The other five programs seem to work just fine. One other thing I forgot to mention. When the burn disc image and copy and convert video freeze or fail to open, it will not let me shut down my computer when I click on the shut down icon on my computer. I have to press the power button manually to shut it down. Any other suggestions?

The forced shutdown just means that that program is broke and cannot get to a place where a normal shutdown will work.

One more test: WITHOUT Roxio running (after a reboot) launch VCC by itself. Start - All Applications - Roxio Creator NXT 4 - Video Copy & Convert

If same thing occures we might as well go to the bottom of my bag of tricks :P

This is extensive, but it what I suggest...
(Add Nothing! - Skip Nothing!)

Download and install the Revo Uninstaller. Then run it in Moderate Mode to remove any traces of Roxio.

Create a New User Account with Administrator Privileges.

Turn OFF any A/V & Firewall.

Reboot and log on to that new account.

Copy your entire disc to a new folder on your HDD. (make sure under Control Panel - Folder Explorer Options, View tab - you have Show hidden files, folder, and drives (Hidden files and folders group) checked)

In that new folder, right click on Setup.exe and select Properties.

Under the Compatibility tab, make sure nothing is checked!

Right click Setup.exe and select Open.

Don’t do any updates at this time (get it running first)

Use the Default Locations!

When the Install competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

That is the last thing I can think of so make sure you follow that to the letter.

I give up. I am back where I started after trying the above fixes. Either I have a bad piece of software or there may be compatibility issues with Windows 10 that Roxio has not resolved. Unless you have anything else for me to try, is there anyway I can get my money back on this or possibly have Roxio send me a new Creator NXT 4 Pro disc?

Sorry to hear that you are not having success.

To the best of my knowledge (I don't work for Roxio), refunds are by the retailer that you bought it from...

If from the site here, no problem. Other commercial retailers vary. Generally I find that if they are not receptive to a refund, they may be receptive to an exchange or store credit.

For curiosity, keep us updated on your experience.

Hi Jim: I got an idea to try installing the Creator NXT pro 4 on another computer. I installed it on my son's computer and it is working perfectly. All the programs open up. His operating system is also Windows 10. Therefore, we can conclude that there are no compatibility issues with Windows 10. The only thing I can figure is that there must be some program or app on my computer that is keeping the burn disc image and copy and convert video from opening or interfering with it. Before I start haphazardly deleting apps or programs, I was wondering if you could help me narrow it down as to which ones I should focus on. Or is there a program on line that you could check compatibility between two programs?

Thanks,

Johnny

Well... not really supposed to work that way.

First let's try a proper repair:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Don’t do any updates at this time (get it running first)

When you reach the screen where Repair is offered, choose that!

When the Repair completes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

Repair does not count against your Install Count whereas re-installs do! (it can be reset by Roxio if needed)
