Very Strange Pricing Model

I got an email telling me that I could get Toast 14 for $49.99. I went to Roxio's chat room and asked what the upgrade from Toast 12 would be... They said $59.99. $10.00 more than buying it new? Now today, I just got a 50% off email offer for Toast 14 for $99.99.... What gives with the pricing? I was about to order the upgrade but not sure how much it will be this week. Quite confusing to say the least.
