Enhanced Dvd

dave1014

Question

I'm trying to author what used to be called an enhanced DVD in Toast 14 on a a mac. I need it to play in a DVD player as it was authored in DVD Studio Pro but also include some data files when put into a computer. When I put disc in DVD player, it flashes on the home menu briefly and then jumps straight to first video.

Page 36 of the User Guide: Adding ROM data to a DVD-Video Disc. It shouldn't affect playback at all, as the DVD player ignores the ROM data; it will only process the VIDEO_TS folder, and only the VOB, IFO and BUP files at that.

When I put disc in DVD player, it flashes on the home menu briefly and then jumps straight to first video.

This is unexpected behavior. If the First Play instruction says to play the first video, then you shouldn't see a menu at all. If First Play says to go to the menu, then the menu should wait for user input (a selection) on what clip to start playing. (I think DVD SP has Menu 1 as the default for First Play, unless you set it differently, and probably doesn't allow it not to be set.)
