My Dvd Crashes

utellem

Question

I have NXT Pro 4. I have tried several times to create a DVD on this version but cannot. I finally gave up on my last project and used another program. Now when I open MY DVD, it looks for the files from the old project (which are no longer there), tells me it cannot find them, then says MYDVD App has stopped working.... I do not know why it is looking for an old project when I am selecting create a new DVD project. Any ideas?

After following the instructions, My DVD would open in the new account I created but not in the existing account. Same message and same result. Although I did not have the files, I decided to rebuild the missing path as Digital Guru suggested. It worked. I don't know where that information was stored but apparently you should never delete the path of your last project. Thank you for the help.

This is exactly the same problem I am trying to address in the thread which I started some weeks ago. I'll be very interested to try the solutions suggested in this thread.

Which 'exactly same' problem?

-MyDVD crashes

-Critical registry Keys missing

-the Learning Center article has been removed

??

Likewise the VideoWave icon that was 'Send to MyDVD' no longer does that and is now called 'Prepare for Authoring'

That offers the user the limited choices of; SVD - DVD - AVCHD - Blu Ray outputs. The resulting file must be dragged into MyDVD to burn a disc.Actually the steps are to quite/close VideoWave after the 'Prepare for Authoring' then start MyDVD and add the file so you can burn.

This isn't too far from previous versions in that you prepare your Project in VideoWave only now you do the Prepare for Authoring step before adding to MyDVD. And now if you have multiple clips or clips and stills you want to be as One Movie, it must be done in VideoWave before creating the output file.

(if your PC has the RAM and horsepower you can actually have VideoWave and MyDVD open at the same time in NXT4)

Thank you for the help and suggestions. I needed the program so I had already started removing and reinstalling it. It all seems to be working now. I still have not figured out how to go from editing a moving to making a DVD, but I hope to figure that out soon.

Trying to fix one problem with Roxio Creator NXT Pro 4, I did a complete clean using a program called Revo Uninstall with the anit-virus and firewall programs turned off, and reinstalled Roxio. Now I get the following error when trying to open Video Wave or to Copy and Convert Video. I have run the repair feature of setup twice to no avail. Does anyone have a suggestion that does not involve completely removing the program again?

Your conclusion is false. I create a working directoy and delete it on completion . Been doing it that way for many, many versions.

Hopefully someone will help with the Error fix but these errors seem to point to a registry cleaner...

If you have one, may be part of an AV program, turn it OFF!

Unfortunately, there is a new problem since the reinstall. When i attempt to open either Video Wave or Copy and Convert Video under either account, I get the following error message. I have already run the repair option from set up and it did not fix it. Since this is related to the original problem, can you make some suggestions for this or do I need to start a new thread?

Then it is time for a complete uninstall and reinstall using these steps:

This is extensive, but it what I suggest...
(Add Nothing! - Skip Nothing!)

Download and install the Revo Uninstaller. Then run it in Moderate Mode to remove any traces of Roxio.

(moderate is its' default)

Create a New User Account with Administrator Privileges.

Turn OFF any A/V & Firewall.

Reboot and log on to that new account.

Copy your entire disc to a new folder on your HDD.

In that new folder, right click on Setup.exe and select Properties.

Under the Compatibility tab, make sure nothing is checked!

Right click Setup.exe and select Open.

Don’t do any updates at this time (get it running first)

Use the Default Locations!

When the Install competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

Thanks for confirming that!

NXT keeps track of the number of Installs and you are limited to 10. (let us know and we can get it reset)

Repairs do not count to that limit so we will start there.

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Now insert your Roxio Disc. (or start setup if you have a download)

Don’t do any updates at this time (get it running first)

When you reach the screen where Repair is offered, choose that!

When the Repair completes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

Let's see if that will do the trick first. If it does not, we have a specific procedure to do an uninstall/reinstall.

Let me re-emphasize. I am NOT clicking on open existing projects but on CREATE NEW PROJECT. Also, I cannot locate the old files as they do not exist any longer. The project was a project from months ago when I first attempted to use this version of the program to create a DVD. I never got the program to create the DVD. After hours of trying, I used another program to do the job, finished the project, and the source files are now deleted. Again, any ideas?

If you click on either of the buttons at the bottom, it will do as you say...

If you click on the disc icons it will start a New Project and not use anything from the past.

Give that a try, however is you still have a problem, please carefully note the text of the error message ;)
