Windows Security Update Stops Copy & Convert From Working

Hello.

I updated my pc with windows security updates KB3176493 and KB3172729. Even after uninstalling these updates, Copy and Convert stops working when I start phase 2 of the convert.

Just to describe what I'm doing:

- I copy a film from a DVD, phase 1.This phase Works ok.

- In next phase (number 2) I choose to convert to Movie and click on the green Arrow. The process starts, but it ends in a few Seconds and I get the error message that Copy and Convert has stopped working and Windows will notify me when the problem is fixed.

 

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Hello again Mr. Hardin.

Convertion with Copy & convert did let me choose norwgian subtitles, but the chapter-division where missing, but that's ok.

Unfortunately this wasn't so easy withh the other program you recommended.

I have now tried ut a other program to help me With the convertion, and it lets me choose subtitles an inncludes chapters. But when I use Copy & convert on the clip afterwards, the sound are missing. The sound are in teh Clip. The new program ise Movavi.

I really don't understand what's the problem.

Before going off on this version tangent (but which was needed) did you ever try the file cdanteek suggested in Post #11?

 

It is a stable file that we often use for testing because we know it works!

Hello.

Have now updated W10 to Anniversary Version.

I tried the clip now and it works fine with convert to WMV HD 1080 and WMV 720p. Still got only audio, and no picture when I convert to Movie.

Tried again to convert from a DVD and the same error occur.

Hello again Mr. Hardin.

The file/Clip Mr. Cdanteek did convert fine with WMV HD 1080 and WMV 720p.
When I convert with Movie, MPG-2, I only get the sound and no picture, but with MPG-4 the Clip iss all fin in Movie as well.

Let's try a different approach. Use a free converter to do the conversion before going to Roxio. This is one a lot of us use: HERE

Thanks for the help and for the patient.

 

I tried out the program you recommended. It was a little less user-friendly than Copy & Convert.

I didn get my subtitles and have to select each chapter.

 

I imported the movie with Copy & Convert, and convertet with the recommended program. The convertion went well, but I the subtitles was missing even I selectet them before the convertion.

You hadn't mentioned sub-titles before. However, I just ran one using the Apple TV preset and the subtitles were present.

 

These were imported from a disc.

 

Also present in the mpg version.

 

I don't see any indication of chapters in either and I don't think (not sure - no time to check) Copy & Convert does chapters in the Convert side???

Copy & Convert let me choose what subtitle I wanted to be convertetd with the movie. This was before I got all this trouble, before 15.08.2016.

The chapter-division did not follow with the converted movie.

To my knowledge, chapters have never been in Convert. They are in Copy of course since that is what 'copy' is.

 

So all is well now or at least as good as it can get?

Perhaps all of Ronny's problems are due to the fact he is trying to convert a commercial movie which probably has copyright protection?

Well, the problem appears even when I try to convert a selfmade Video.

And for the protection bit, that have not been å problem before 15.08.2016.

 

Everything stoppet when I installed the security updates for Windows 10. I think these updates messed up something in the codec package in Roxio.

The solution I found for now, works, but is not the best solution.

I will try to use Copy & Convert now and again, and hopefully the program will work soon.

The convertion has stareted to work again, but the sound doesn't follow in the process.

Any suggestions?

Try another clip insteed of the import in Video Copy and Convert.

 

If you get the same resuls, insert your Roxio disc and choose Repair when it is offered. Reboot - retry

Is the disc Copyrighted? Do you have any videos on your computer that did not come from a DVD? Try one of those.

 

Sometimes the messages don't fit the error or difficulty. What format are you converting from/to. (note I just tried a conversion of a home movie file from one format to another and had no problems). If you set up the conversion (another screen shot would be helpful) what do you see in the preview?

 

Is your W10 the Anniversary edition?

Hello again.

First of all I will thank Mr. Hardin and Mr. Skins for their time to try to help me with my problem.

But after repair, reboot and a Clip, which is unprotected, still the same error.

I have taken some screenshots to show you the process.

In my opinion, it's the encoding part which have a conflict, and this wasn't a problem before the Security Updates from Microsoft.

I have also tried to install NXT 4 on a similar computer after the security update, This computer didn't have NXT 3 before the Security update, With the same result.

The error message is in Norwegian, but i guess you already know what it means.

I think the Norwegian version is more descriptive than the English, 'stopped working'

 

Did you try it with another clip file that you know is good? (no import)

 

Did you try the import into VideoWave in place of Video Copy and Convert.

 

There may be a difference in these KB updates, I have a KB3176492 but no 493. I also have the KB3172729 as you listed.

I have tried out Copy and Convert on a Clip I ripped the day before the securiy update, and everything worked fine with Copy & Convert.

I also tried to import with VideoWave and then convert with Copy & Convert. But then I only get sound, and no picture.

 

Do you have other suggestions to my rip-Project?
