Signal/no Signalissue With Hdmi

Kostyanius

Question

Hello folks,

I have an issue when i am trying to connect my game capture (HD PRO) card to PS4.

For more details you can see it on that video in order to make it clear. http://rgho.st/private/8YVyMzBsP/6ffb2f7648771e6316432fa17eea7f91

Some times i can see clear image and sound but in a while it again disappears and "no signal" error arises. But hdmi cable is ok and video and sound work perfectly on my gaming monitor.

I have tested it on three different laptops (Asus ROG JY751 - Windows 10, Sony Vaio (Windows 10), Asus (dont remember the exact model - Windows 7) and everywhere issue is reproducible.

I have installed the 1.1 and 2.0, 2.1 driver packs but it has not solved the issue.

How do you think is really it broken and should i ask return it or could it be fixed somehow?

Thanks.

The lag is in all devices that I have tried...

I have an AverMedia internal card and the same lag is there. :(

How did you play the PS4 before?

If by chance you used the HDMI output into your laptop you could do the same thing now even with the Roxio.

I used PC monitor previously for PS4 gaming. But now i live in another town and i am often on the road and change place of living. I can not carry it. That is why i need something portable because i have no TV at home and i am not going to buy it to the rented apartment. That is why i thought i could use Roxio Game Cap in conjunction with PS4 and with my Laptop (Asus ROG JY 751) which has no hdmi-in but only hdmi-out port. Only expensive custom laptops like Alienware which costs above 2000$ have hdmi-in port and not all of them. I have on my laptop Thunderbolt installed too but also like hdmi it is only for the output although it contains Display Port embedded also which has to work for a signal receiving but in fact it does not fork in Asus realization. Thereby that only the left or to buy a new laptop for $ 2000 or a video beam. Both variant are not ok. I do not want new laptop cause my current one is new enough and powerfull (980GTX 4GB Nvidia, Core i7, 32GB of RAM, SSD, BD-Rewritable Drive e/t/c). As for video beam it requires darkness and special fabric that is not always available. So while I have not decided what to do with it. May be will be easier sell my ps4 and the problem will be solved by itself!)

Yes you got between a rock and a hard place!

If you can play games on your laptop then you can capture with Roxio as you do (assumes enough power to run both).

There are a couple of posts showing the How To. You might want to keep the PS4 just to play when you have no need to capture.

Really sorry that it did not work out for you!

After much thoughts I have sent Roxio Game capture card back to Amazon and asked refund of my money so as this item is absolutely useless because of long delay for connectivity of my PS4 to the laptop. I think that Roxio Developers have something to think about and what to improve in a future because its work is far from ideal and leaves much to be desired, because even the broadcast of the video on YouTube or Twitchy with a delay of 2 seconds is bad. Do not you think so?
Even PS4 Remote Play https://remoteplay.dl.playstation.net/remoteplay/lang/en/index.html works quite faster if to compare it with your device although the route of the signal is quite longer for Remote Play (PS4 console -> ISP provider -> laptop). But it works fine and result satisfies me. 0.2 sec delay against your Roxio Game Capture 2 seconds delay (it is really a shitty time of reaction for device which is connected directly). No offense but it's true (for any vendor). Now i am finished. You can close the topic. Bye!

Hello,

Have one crazy idea but i am not sure that it will work.

That is why i need you opinion so as i do not want to buy one more not needed stuff.

Will it work it put it to another hdmi port on roxio game capture card and another usb port put to the laptop? As far as i know hdmi to hdmi should work as pass through binding and it should not cause any delay.

Am i right?

If yes then also please tell me is this cable suitable for such kind of task or does it work only in one direction from hdmi to usb?

Thanks.

The Game Capture HD has a pass-thru HDMI port, with no delay. But it DOES add HDCP copy protection to the signal.

From the link you included, are you planning to use a phone or tablet to watch as you play your game? That's not what you're getting there. That cable is for taking a video signal FROM a smart phone or tablet and playing it on a TV or monitor with HDMI input. I don't think your phone or tablet will accept an input signal.

Tell us exactly what you're trying to do there.

This cable just an example and i think that i could find on ebay.com or gearbest.com or aliexpres.com any other hdmi-usb (for pc) adapter. But i am not sure it will work. I am still trying to connect ps4 with laptop which havn`t Hdmi-In port in order to play on it. I am not interested in video capturing at all.

Okay... no, that cable as an example won't do what you want. That particular cable appears to only use the USB connection to provide power for the video signal, not taking a video signal in through the USB port.

But, if we go back to Jim's post above, he says that all of the devices he's tried have the same type of delay between the signal and when it displays on the screen. I know even the Roxio VHS to DVD device has a couple second delay. I think you will have a very hard time finding anything without that delay, because you can't simply send an HDMI signal into USB, it has to be converted into a different format, and that conversion is very processor intensive and takes time. And then, once the signal comes in through the USB port, it has to be rerouted to the monitor.

I'm not saying it can't be done. I just don't know what device might have that capability, sorry.

And just to continue, a 23" monitor with HDMI input can be found for $120 or so, probably less if you find a better sale. And it's not that much bigger than a laptop, and probably weighs less than a laptop, it will also have no noticeable lag from your PS4. You keep saying a monitor isn't an option, but I'm suggesting it really is the best option.

Jim, i have checked all the ports - issue is reproducible for usb 2.0 and usb 3.0.
Also i have checked today on work desktop. The same result - signal is blinking.

I was very unpleasantly surprised how it was possible at all to release such a poor quality product which does not work properly on all the machines where i tested it.

I might to buy Elgato or Avermedia game capture card that would definitely work but the devils work was to buy this Roxio ^#!& which wasted my money, time and all the nerves. :-(

The device works with any valid input signal, either hdmi or component and has done so since it was introduced 2 years ago...

We are trying to test to find where yours is not working properly. We have tested the USB ports and I have assumed that you tried a different USB cable? Now we can move on and test something else or you can make good your threat to buy something else...

Let us know -_-

Hello Jim,

I have tested only one usb cable wich was in box together with capture card. Meanwhile HDMI cable is ok (it is native Sony cable and i have tested it yesterday on my monitor). Works fine. Thereby should i buy another one usb cable and test it?

I am still interested in finding the root cause in order to make this one work properly so as i am from Europe (Ukraine) and return of current one will take a very long time (about 2 or 3 weeks) and fuss with paperwork and i will be forced to pay for the return delivery of the item to the United States and that is not cheap. But if we will not manage to solve the issue i will be forced to do return and ask refund and buy the new one of another vendor so as i need working item within next month.

The USB cable is a hunch, we have seen past cases where the cable (usb or hdmi) or even the port has proven the fault.

One other important test to try is to test the Device with a completely different input source. Use a Player, like a DVD or BD or any other player that has HDMI (preferred) or even Component output.

Also due to line resistance your cable lengths should be 1 to 2 meters max. (seen it run with 9 meters but that is really pushing it)

Laptop - must be hooked up to its' power adapter.

A good install is necessary and when the device is plugged in your Device Manager must look like this:

If the Transcoder error is present, it is not going to work:

These are different pc's but the results are the same ;)

Here is the screen from my laptop device manager: http://rgho.st/6DmhDS5dV.view as you can see that Roxio Game Capture is identified.

In another devices there is one unknown device. Its code is: http://rgho.st/7DvzYJsBT.view is it your transcoder? acpi\int340f\2&daba3ff&0

Have checked this evening 3 cables. http://rgho.st/private/8s4kqhxdD/1102d4baefc142265dc4680fe16080c0.view- no difference. Does not work with all of them. Have any ideas?
