Formating Slideshows For Dvd And/or Blu-Ray Burn

RobPlacek

Question

I have used Roxio products for years creating slideshows and DVDs, but last year when I changed from Windows 8 to Windows 10 I purchased the new NXT Pro 4. Now I am having trouble creating a Blu-ray or a DVD from a Roxio VideoWave slideshow that I just completed? I created a Blu-ray DVD last May, but for some reason I cannot create a new Blu-ray DVD today.

I’m having two issues:

1. When I open Roxio MyDVD I cannot click on the “Blu-ray” icon because it isn’t highlighted. Last May when burning a vacation Blu-ray disk it worked, but for some reason I cannot click on this icon today?

2. When I open Roxio MyDVD and click on the “DVD” icon it creates a new file name and opens MyDVD. I cannot insert the slideshow into Roxio MyDVD, since nothing is viewable in the project folder (wrong format?). I don’t know why this is happening or if there another way to create the DVD? In the previous versions of MyDVD I just navigated to the “Add New Movie” tab and inserted my “DMSM” slideshow.

As I stated above I am using Windows 10 and with the NXT Pro 4.

NXT4 & NXT5 you have to buy the plugin even if you have the Pro version.

Go to Help and if it's not installed you'll see a line that says Purchase BluRay plugin. If installed that line is gone.

If it's not installed find your download of the BluRay plugin and reinstall it.

Two things need to be done for BD...

You must have the 'Pro' version to have BD capability.

You must TURN ON the BD in the Interface

In order for your Slideshows or Movies to work from VideoWave, they MUST be rendered into proper format or they will not be recognized.

Do this in VideoWave, similar to what you did before:

May I ask what version of Roxio you had before?

Thanks for the directions to render the slideshow so that it is compatible for MyDVD. What format is the best to select under "Video file quality" when I want to view this DVD on my 55" LCD TV?

Once I create the DVD can I add a photo into the film strip window instead of the slideshow? I was able to do this in the previous Roxio Pro 10 product, but when I add a photo into this new NXT Pro 4 version the background area changes instead of the film strip area. Even changing the title is difficult. I can move the title, but cannot edit the name.

Lastly, under the help pull-down i can only see " Purchase Blu-Ray" and "Restore Purchase" so its sounds like I need to purchase the plug in to burn a Blu-Ray (which I thought I purchase back in May). Is there a way of checking if this was purchased before? Can I use the "Restore purchase" pull-down? If not then you mention that if it's not installed find your download of the BluRay plugin and reinstall it. I'm not sure where to look for the plugin on my computer to reinstall it. Can you help?

I did not show it in my screen caps of VideoWave is that you can pick DVD or BD for output if you are using Prep for Authoring. So you can do it twice if you need both...

Alternately, you can render it at BD and use that file in two different MyDVD Projects.

I should also mention that keeping quality high is totally up to us now. We MUST follow the Time Limits or it will automaticly reduce Quality to fit the Project onto the Media you selected... Keep to these and there will not be an issue:

DVD Time – DVD Capacity
4.7Gb:

  • HQ = 1:06
  • SP = 1:37
  • LP = 2:22
  • ELP = 3:04

    8.5 Gb:
  • HQ = 2:00
  • SP = 2:57
  • LP = 4:19
  • ELP = 5:35
  • DVD AVCHD Capacity:
AVCHD on a 4.7 DVD (thanks to ggrussell)[/indent]
    • HQ – 0:40:24 @ 1920 X 1080P
    • SP – 0:50:16 @ 1920 X 1080I
    • LP – 1:00:00 @ 1440 X 1080I
    • EP – 1:24:31 1280 X 720P
    AVCHD on 8.5 DVD
    • HQ – 1:13
    • SP – 1:24
    • LP – 1:39
    • EP – 2:15
    Blu-ray 25 GB Capacity:
    • HQ— 3:29
    • SP— 4:00
    • LP— 4:43
    • EP— 6:24
    Blu-ray 50 GB Capacity:
    • HQ— 6:59
    • SP— 8:02
    • LP— 9:27
    • EP— 12:50

Any recommendations for the other two questions I asked about?

Here is what it is called 'RoxioCreatorNXT4_BD_Plugin.exe' do a search and find it then do a "Restore Purchase".

MyDVD only accepts Video or Picture FILES.

You do Slideshows in VideoWave and Render them into a file for MyDVD.

In the slideshow Assistant, there is an option at Step 3 to edit in VideoWave... Take it!

This way will work with this version of NXT. and there isn't any way around that :(
