Available Space On Dvd Is Incorrect

Help! I am trying to burn a large video file to a data disc, and when I create a new project Toast thinks that the available space on a blank DVD is only 116.3MB (the disc is 4.7GB). Here's what happened:

Midway through burning a large file spanned across 3 DVDs, Toast crashed. When I re-opened the software and tried to burn the project again, it said that it would take the 11.8 GB project would take108 DVDs. I've attached screen shots of a new project as well as the project I am trying to burn. The problem is only with DVDs— CDs still come up as 703MB, so the project could be burned to 19 CDs or 108 DVDs. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, re-booted, restored my computer to the backup before the crash, everything I can think of.

 

I'm on a Late 2011 Macbook Pro running OSX El Capitan 10.11.6, and I have the latest version of Toast Titanium 15.

 

 

Any ideas?

I think I recall someone with a similar problem (or the same). It may have been a few versions ago. I think the solution was to delete preference files for Toast, as they got corrupted in the crash.

Thank you, I'll try that! I'm not sure how to delete the preference files, can you help me out?

(The ~ symbol is a shorthand for the Home folder: Macintosh HD/Users/<your_username>

 

The files ‘Roxio Toast Prefs’ and ‘com.roxio.Toast.plist’ can safely be deleted, although you may lose some settings that you had set in Preferences. Missing preference files will be re-generated automatically on next launch. So you may have to set those settings again later.

These files are located in the ‘Preferences’ folder inside the ‘Library’ folder inside the Home folder. The User Library folder may be set hidden by default on Mac OS X 10.7 and later. There are several ways to access it anyway. (1) To open that Library folder, use the Go menu in the Finder, hold Shift (Sierra) or Option (Alt) (older systems) to see Library in the list as a destination. (2) Alternatively, Finder > Go > Go to Folder… type ~/Library (3) Alternatively, change the hidden status: Open the Home folder. Finder > View > Show View Options > ☑︎ Show Library Folder.
