Mydvd Editing

snubakauai

Question

I just upgraded to a newer and faster Dell computer (Inspiron 3650, windows 10 home, i7 6700, 16G Ram) so I purchased the Creator NXT pro 5 with the hope to speed up the dvd making process. I just brought up MyDVD and wanted to edit the text color for the project (I use a stock theme and then change the background photo to a personalized photo) because the dark blue lettering blends in with the photo. I had all the editing figured out with Roxio Creator NXT but the upgrade to Pro 5 has me stumped. The help manual has a chapter on changing text but I am not able to do it. I am in advanced mode, tree mode, edit but I can only move things around but not change the text. Any suggestions?

Brendon, I was thinking I was "upgrading" by getting Pro 5. I have been using NXT (and before that Creator 10, I think) so I thought I would be familiar with the workings of the program. With my old computer (Windows 8.1), I switched to Windows Movie Maker from videowave to edit the video because it was faster and more simple wayof putting the video together ( I don't so anything fancy, just transitions and music. I have not found a version of Movie Maker that works on windows 10). I would then open MyDVD to burn the disc. I had changed text fonts and colors on the menu with the older version. I was looking to do the same with Pro 5 but I couldn't figure it out. I can open a menu style and change background picture and music but cannot figure out how to edit the title or project name on the menu. I have tried deleting, right-clicking and searching the menu bar but I have not found a resolution.

Jim, are you aware of any fixes for my challenges?

Thanks for the responses,

Kevin

Played with it, No Way!

IF a DVD is all you will make, Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning will give you the MyDVD you are used to but without the VideoWave editor included. Of course it does not do BD or AVCHDs :(

Other Band Aids?

Live with it...

Find an App that will allow that...

Find an alternate software...

Sorry but that is the end of the list.

Thanks for the follow up. I guess I should have checked closer to the features before purchasing what I thought was an upgrade (this is hindsight because I thought it would allow the features of the previous version plus newer capabilities, I was deceived by the "pro" designation in the title). I am resigned to "live with it" and I will try and find alternative software. Maybe it is time to move away from Roxio products.

Between NXT and NXT 5 they've swapped out the real MyDVD for a sort of "Lite" version, with a lot less abilities.

You may well find that the new 'skinny' version can not do what you want.

Do you know whether a full version of MyDVD is available either as a stand-alone or bundled with something else? I came across MyDVD Video Lab HD in the store but the link to download is broken.

You may find a version on EBay or other (be careful) but it is not available directly from Corel/roxio.

Roxio sells a stand alone My DVD but I'll bet it is the new cut down version?

The old My DVD is in NXT 1,2,3 and Creator 2012 the last best version IMO.

They are not W-10 compatible, some have had success running those on W-10 just don't count on it.

Thanks, that's pretty disappointing. I've been using an older version for years and it always got the job done. Just assumed when I purchased NXT 5 that it would have the same (or better) functionality.

Thanks for the heads up on W-10. I've had past battles with Roxio and the OS so I don't think I'll be heading down that rabbit hole.

Looks like I'm in the market for a new tool. Sigh.

Dear Pay --

Since MyDVD no longer has the functionality you need and there are no other options in Corel or Pinnacle, take a look at the free version of Cyberlink's Power 2 Go. It will burn DVD of the video files you have made. Extras such as Blu Ray will cost extra.

This suggestion is within the guidelines (no cost software and lack of functionality in Corel products) for posting programs not in the Corel stable.

The Power2Go Essential is FREE burning software and you get a 15-day trial of premium features from Power2Go Platinum.

The essential software will let you burn data CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray Discs (even BDXL!) without restriction or limitation.

I doubt the essential free software will come close to what your doing with the old My DVD.
