Burning Dvd: Include .srt File?

zooey91

Question

I suspect that Toast doesn't have the capability to include an .srt file, but I can't imagine why not I can watch on my computer with VLC player, but I'd much rather burn to dvd and watch on my TV).

I hope I'm wrong: If so, how do I include the subtitles?

If not, please add this capability in a future update.

Correct. Toast has no means to include subtitles from an .srt file into DVD-Video. There used to be tricks for on-the-fly hard-subbing, but I doubt they still work with today’s versions of Toast and macOS.

I bought a media player (not Apple TV) years ago (2010) to play video files directly on my tv, without conversion or authoring, including external subtitles. That saved me many discs but more importantly innumerable hours of preparation. Some more-modern units even do 4K, 3D, HEVC/H.265 nowadays.

If not, please add this capability in a future update.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the decision makers at Corel (Roxio) read these forums.
