Roxio Creator 2011 Pro

essexmaverick

Question

Good day to the group.

I purchased Roxio Creator 2011 Pro back in 2011, and spent many wonderful years using it to create videos for a web site I used to run. Around 2014 this ceased and my use of the system ended.

This week i found the need to use it once more, but it was slow, glitchy, failed many times and was so frustrating I gave up. I am now looking at whether I can upgrade it to the latest level, and how this would work. I have my original registration confirmation, but would probably struggle to find the install discs. I know since when I installed it to nowadays these come via a direct download.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Hello Mark,

Your Creator 2011 can't be "upgraded" in software. That line of Creator software ended with Creator 2012, and has been replaced by various versions of Creator NXT - which is a very different set of software.

If you can produce "proof of purchase" of the old version, Roxio might give you a $30 discount off the purchase price of a new version. However, if you haven't changed your computer and operating system too much, and can find those installation discs you should be better off reinstalling your Creator 2011 afresh and bringing it back to factory condition. We can help with that if you can find the discs.

Regards,

Brendon

I recently did the same thing on my Roxio 2012 Pro. Had a few issues. But, after following the recommended method of installing, it's running fine on my Win7 64bit system. Also, I found that it was still registered to me, and I re-registered it so that the program knows it registered.

Now, on the Creator 2012 Pro Home tab, at the bottom it has an ad for the NXT 6 upgrade at $30 off. Clicking that just takes me to their web page.

Well, the $30 is available right now on the new 'NXT 6' to ANYONE, so it's not much of an 'upgrade' offer.

Previously, I was going to upgrade to 'NXT 5' with the upgrade discount AND a coupon code for something like $70. I decided to stay with Creator 2012 Pro due to Corel ruining MyDVD after they acquired Roxio. I would recommend reading the comments about MyDVD and how it is NOT the same as you are familiar with in the NXT 4+ releases. Read the reviews about it here on the discussion forums. You may be disappointing.

Personally, i think it's Corel's path to degrade the Creator series... now NXT, to either discontinue it, or, nudge people to their more expensive products.
